Looks like someone didn't read the article just the headline. The tariffs directed at Mexico and Canada are directly linked to the borders as outlined in the article. If you can't see this then I can only assume a) you're a headline reader b) your not real bright or c) both a) and b).

Illicit fentanyl, primarily manufactured in foreign clandestine labs and smuggled into the United States through Mexico, is being distributed across the country and sold on the illegal drug market.

You assume a lot,actually i did research but decided not to post that but now i will.

Just meaning to say that if the Mexican and Canadian borders would be tight shut illegal stuff will still be coming in.

Never be stopped completely I agree but holes need to be plugged and the two borders are bloody big holes.

Easy to get across in many locations.

How would it ever be possible to close that gap without taking away anybodies rights?

I have never been at the US/Mexican border but i know there is some kind of boundary because that is a big issue.

I also know that a lot of illegals enter the US by air.How would you stop that?

Fentanyl needs to be stopped,fine but how?

Guns are not coming from Canada or Mexico,they are coming out of the US.

Problems like this can never be solved by one country but the funny thing is ,nobody wants to be dictated by their neighbor.

A bully kind of approach will only backfire and cause worse problems.

It should be added that most drug is not smuggled through "holes", but through legal ports of entry. And 80% of smugglers were U.S. citizen.

Figure 2 breaks down fentanyl seizures by location. From FY 2015 to 2024, 88 percent of all fentanyl was seized at ports of entry, basically the same as in FY 2024. Another 4 percent was seized at vehicle checkpoints on highways after the ports. Only 8 percent was seized by Border Patrol on patrol, and many of those seizures came from vehicle stops as well."
