It's good to see the pendulum swing back from the Far-Left toward the center again

LOL, there is no far left in the US and the MAGA cult is way to the right of center.

Yes, there did used to be Middle , Left wing and Right wing .

These days Left wing is considered to be middle and Right wing is considered to be Nazis .

Left wing is now middle ground

Lucky Brits, these days the French have no idea where they are .

There has not been any shift in the pendulum. what we see are manifestations of anger and frustration. It is seen in democracies all over the world.

The UK did not go right wing when it gave Boris a massive majority in 2019 any more than the UK having gone left wing woke when it gave Labour a majority in 2024. Voters were looking for stability, integrity and good government.  If the voters next turn to another party, it will be because of disgust with labour and not an embrace of another political  manifesto.

The electorate of the USA did not suddenly embrace right wing extremism with their selection of Donald. Trump. A large core section of voters has always occupied the conservative right wing spectrum. They were never nice people. It has elected  politicians like Spiro Agnew and Nixon. There has always been a core group in the Democrat party who embraced idiotic impractical and irresponsible political positions. In between were centrist Americans who wanted someone to listen and who wanted hope. They thought Eisenhower would bring security and peace, when in effect he left Kennedy the nightmare of the Bay of Pigs fiasco, and the foundations of a war in Vietnam.   The USA went to the dishonest Kennedy because he delivered the fantasy of Camelot. They went to Reagan, the man who plunged the USA into debt, supported brutal despots and who transacted with drug cartels, because he offered hope and a return to  the imagined glory days of the USA. And on an on it goes.

The Democrats lost the  2024 presidential election because they lost their way and didn't listen to the people. The voters wanted simple solutions and action on longstanding problems. Trump's election platform answered their demands. The voters will turn on Trump just as they have done on most US presidents. Had Roosevelt not die in office, they would have turned on him too.

Well said. I fear that the UK voters who were seeking stability, integrity and good government when voting for Starmer/Labour may already be suffering buyers' remorse.

I think she's alluding to the woman in UK who was rightly jailed for inciting low IQ, far right thugs to set light to accomodation which housed terrified humans.

As for being jailed for thinking something: it's just the usual far right scaremongering drivel.

The media reaction to the new reality in the US is hilarious. A panel on CNN went apesh!t when someone dared to say that Twitter/X is now finally  a balanced place to have discussions. A hue and cry ensued, but ironically the data came from CNN itself. Twitter users identify as 48% Democrat, 47% Republican, 5% other.  Can'T get much more balanced than that. Yet the left is so used to controlling the public narrative that any challenge is seen as tyranny.

Europe and the UK are slipping into full-fledged totalitarianism in a way reminiscent of Orwell's 1984. People are now being throw into prisons for "Wrongthink," and "Newspeak" is the only officially condoned language.

Given Trump's win and a move back to embracing US Constitutional protections, thankfully the US is going to be swinging the other direction, at least for the time being.

Typical speech of a gaslighted and brainwashed simple redneck

In the West Modern Liberalism is still the ideology being pushed. To me every Western country is still very liberal but a change is coming. For most people it will be a rude awakening and it will be glorious.

Agreed. And thus is the place to which both major political parties have brought us through their policies, actions/inactions. I thought we might squeak by the knock down/drag out fight with the hope that the American majority would reject Trump and his Project 2025 ilk, putting overwhelming responsibility on the Democrats to “put up or shut up”. I was fully appreciative of the justified frustration/anger within the working middle class as a result of the economic squeeze over the past decades (afterall, I could not have a sustainable retirement in the USA and thus am an economic refugee in a lower cost country). OK, enough voters have declared they were not willing to take a further chance that the Democrats might follow the reasoning of Bernie Sanders and move forcefully to address the very real issues of the working middle class. We should not miss the additional message … that same voting majority has rejected the traditional Republicans also. That is why they followed Trump who has declared that, indeed the American federal government system is in need of drastic change. While some of us vehemently oppose Trump, we agree that drastic changes are needed … we find no evidence that Trump and his Project 2025 ilk will make progress forward in the interest of the working middle class. I expect any progress in this direction to stand out as an aberration in the next four years. So have at it fellow Americans … I am estranged from you as I think your choice will spell a major disaster. I feel certain that I will not be able to support nor defend most of what is about to take place. And Republicans? Congratulations, ALL responsibility is now yours … you allowed/supported him as your party’s leader again, you now have the Presidency, majorities in the House of Representatives, the Senate and thanks the Sen. McConnell (R-KY) the additional majority control of the Supreme Court of the United States.

Typical progressive falling back on to their only defense to protect their fragile psyches: name-calling.

Me a "red-neck."  In reality.  Yeah - I spent 1/3 of my life working blue collar jobs outside.  "Red-neck?" Physically, yeah.  It's called the sun.  Interesting though that back in the 60s and 70s at least half of those who worked outside as blue collar workers were Liberal Democrats - myself included.  I even was a member of the International Woodworkers of America (IWA).  Unions are liberal creations to protect worker rights.

So back to the graphic.  This is the reality of the shift in woke, progressive culture over time.

Amazing short way on your graphic from your point to the right. Meaning you like really to follow a convict with all his erratic ideas? And since we have no evidence about his health I suspect him to be sick, very sick, indeed.

I admit you as a worker don't have the ability to overview world wide politics. But maybe in Thailand it's enough to see up to the top of the next palm tree. No offense.

In Germany, if you call the Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs (Robert Habeck) stupid (Dummkopf) on social media, you will have police visit you and turn your home upside down.

You are not jailed, but you are silenced very fast. Green fascism in its purest form.

Calling the Democrats far-left and Trump/MAGA ‘center’ clearly shows how much (or rather, how little) the OP knows about politics and life in general. Trump is not center, Tulsi Gabbard is not center, Scott Bessent is not center,  Pete Hegseth is not center, Pam Bondi is not center, Kristi Noem is not center. The list goes on. Trump wanted Matt Gaetz for AG, for crying out loud. How is that ‘center’?
Hopefully Trump will make a huge mess of things, and he’s probably going to wreck the American economy anyway, with his tariffs and deporting 10-20 million ‘illegal aliens’. And then in 2026 (if there are still free and fair elections) we will see what the voters have to say. Until then, we’re just going to have to ride out this sh!tstorm.

That isn't "thinking" something though, is it .

That is writing something which is different to thinking something
