"thereafter online reporting works"

Until it doesn't.

Maybe just another forum legend

You stated it had been quoted on this forum that people have done first time reports online. I said it has not. So where is your link to say it has?

Whole thread is BS

Yes, I remember reading it. Have you read every message on this forum and can attest that nobody ever said that?

Can you do a 90 day by mail in if it is your first after a return trip?

Someone said "No", but I live in Chiang Mai and I do my first report by mail. Others should report the situation for other provinces.

There's a 90-page multi-year thread about online 90 day reports at https://aseannow.com/topic/1241749-thai-immigration-online-90-day-reporting-system/page/93/#findComment-19373447 - offhand I don't remember seeing people say mail didn't work for the initial submission, only that online didn't work. I also found another report their of mail submission working at Jomtien, although it took 11 weeks. 😂 @novacova which office did mail fail for you / what exactly happened? Thank you.

Upon arrival back from 10 days out of Thailand earlier this year, tried online in Jomtien. Was rejected and instructed to report in person. Was in and out in 25 minutes.

When I got new passport I had to go immigration first time again, done online for years.

I just got my latest online report rejected due to 'insufficient information'. I've been doing tm 47's for just under 20 years. My circumstances have not changed in that time but I still get my online rejected. When I get rejected I usually repeat the info online and it gets accepted. WTF are they playing at?

Submitted my TM47 again tuther day. Returned rejected again this afternoon.

Well you would have because you'd need to transfer your stamps from the old passport to new. Which will include your TM47

You are quite right. I returned from UK on 31st May 2023 on re-entry permit and then did a 90 day online on 15th Aug 2023.

I have mentioned that a few times when some say it couldn't be done.

As I mentioned in a previous post I was rejected this year following a trip to the UK, I believe a change in policy.

You shouldn't generalise like that, nothing "needs" to be moved unless you need it to be.

I came back last year on new passport and new visa. 90 day was done with the extension, I moved my TM30 from 2015 into the new passport, immigration never even saw the old passport.

Used to be so that you need to make in person first one  if get new passport, after that can do online. I however seems some change (or technical glitch) and as I tried to do last week after coming to thailand on September with old passport. Have renewed retirement extension in November. Tried even 2nd time after couple of days but rejected. Today went to Pattaya immigration to do in person. Had to leave passport there, get back on Friday as tomorrow holiday. Will try to ask why online failed if get a chance. Today many people so did not bother asking.

Admire the good intentions.

You won't receive an explanation.

555 you may well be right. You never know though - few years ago when my report was rejected (due to new passport) , I asked why and the officer actually told need to do in person first time for new passport.

May well be that now need to do first time after entering the country.

You may well have read it on here as it used to be the case.  It changed about a year ago.

Chonburi, but you are asking the wrong question.

Chonburi has 3 immigration offices and I use Sri Ratcha.

Tm47 is a piece of paper not an stamp, BTW I have a BOI work permit and extension of stay. 19 years in Thailand now.

Wow, how do you think online TM47 works

Went to pick up my passport today. Asked from the lady at the counter if she knew why online reporting failed as been working Ok before. She took my passport and looked the stamps and said 'first time, after this online ok'.

Seems indeed that how need to report first one after arriving the country in person and online Ok after that. Or possibly first one after extension of stay renewal, pity that came to my mind just after leaving.

I was trying to figure out the logic of why first time in person but after that can do online. Only explanation credible to myself was that there must have been two camps in immigration, one insisting online Ok always, and the other camp of the opinion that no online should exist at all. Then these groups make a political compromise in some obscure committee meeting  that first time in person and after that can online.

TIT.

i’ve had problems with filing online, but then was given at the immigration office the directions to make sure and was pointed out to the end date that they will stamp on the paperwork when you do it at the immigration office this end, date or renewal date must be correct on the paperwork submitted

Yes, you can use an agent. Price depends on where you go. Varies wildly depending on the agent and location

I returned with a re entry permit in June 2024.

75 days after my return I mailed my report to CW.

On the due date it was approved and receipt arrived 30 days later.

Subsequent online reports have been approved

When you apply online you enter your address.  The system sends it to the appropriate office for processing based on that address.

Note though that sandyf's experience was in mid 2023 and as has been explained to you, the system has changed since then.

I don't know the ins and outs but there seems to be a consensus that online reports are dealt with by your local office.

Last April I did an online report and had approval in 2  minutes, had to be automated, far too fast for human intervention. At the same time others were complaining about waiting days on end, go figure.
