The OP is not ashamed. The above mentioned potentates were not democratically elected. As opposed to today, where the little people elect their future autokrats into office.

Where does the anger come from? Maybe the endless parliamentary discussions that produce nothing but "compromises" that do not adress/rectify current problems concerning little people. Getting the impression, that whatever "the government" legislates, it's in favor of the upper 5% of a society.

To some, the China/Russia syndrome might be tempting. With a stroke of a pen arising problems can be adressed/rectified, without parliamentary discussions that can last for years. Tempting for many.

Humans prefer easy solutions over complicated ones. Can be bliss or curse. Only hindsight can tell. Unfortunately.

The Biden economy boomed. It was Darwinian Capitalism, admittedly, but it boomed. Those with marketable skills and talents saw their net worth soar and their services in constant demand, reflected in the longest stretch of unemployment being below 4% in 64 years. Those left behind by the modern tech economy did not fare as well, but they will do much worse when the resurrected Misters Smoot & Hawley implement their massive tariff plan.

The people who missed out on the Biden Booming Economy are not going to be helped by massive tariffs, nor cutbacks in programs that supplement their income (which DOGE will slash). 47 has absolutely no solution, not even the 'concept of a plan' to address the redundancy in unskilled human labor. The right are great with fear mongering and simple slogans that are popular with the dumb or uneducated.

 

Actual policies are too difficult for most people to comprehend so the rights slogans cut through better.

 

It would be undemocratic, but a better system would be to make people sit a test to prove they can understand policy.

The dumb masses used to vote more left than right, against “big business greed” but the right have thrown LGBTQIA, immigration and other topics in to win over the dumb masses.

Stockholm Syndrome has nothing to do with voting in elections.  In fact, if you read the Wiki entry to which you linked, Stockholm Syndrome may not even be a real syndrome.  Basically, the response by the hostages in Sweden in 1973 was very specific to the situation in the Stockholm bank and has rarely been observed elsewhere since then.
