Exactly, it’s all about money. Always has been , always will be.

They would have exercised that option much earlier if it was of interest. Consider Pattaya - with friends and a vibrant social scene compared to Bumfuknowhere watching rice grow or tapping rubber.....

I wonder if they simply wouldn’t be accepted if they went back to their home villages. Many of them come from conservative rural farming areas where being a former bar girl, let alone one covered in tattoos, piercings, and fluent in street-smart English, might lead to social rejection. Back home, they could struggle to reintegrate into a society that looks down on their past choices and their current persona.

Utter rubbish , there is no shame attached, they would be accepted immediately

No such thing as an ex bar girl just those taking a sabbatical

hope for one more stupid farang that would marry them? built them a house?   stay as pimp, aka mamsan?

does OP speak fluent thai and did polls with the bar girls?   doubt it...

Easy peasy...not that complicated.

The OP seems to be referring to women that are no longer hunting for a foreigner. The question seemed to be why don't they go back home when they have the option to.

Can't say that I agree with the OP. I rarely found the same rental as I'd had the previous holiday. Most by far stayed only a year or so to make a bit of money and then went and had a normal life.

You nailed it.

Where do posters get the weird idea that ALL BGs are tattooed and pierced? It's just not the case.

Speaking English is regarded as a positive, and lots want to learn it. I assisted at an after school English class when I was living in the village.

Yes ! Some people have friends !

They don't sit in their 21sqm Pattaya room laying on the bed logged  in this forum all day, they actually go out to meet friends

Why is this even a question?  All over the world, people mive yo a job, work the job and leave the job, but stay in today place they live.  You build friends and a community, why leave?

Never mind, he's still got lots of floors to mop.

Well in 14 years i have only spent 2 days in Pattaya (family holiday). But those women who i knew of who worked bars and the hotels/restaurants in Udon, plus the girls i know about in the village, 90% left when they got a man. They either left to live in the man's country, or brought him back to the village. I am one of about 5 farang in the village with a Thai partner, but about 10 other girls from the village live in Europe or the USA. Only the hardest (and most damaged?) stay in Pattaya.

Yes, they could have someone sending them money from abroad, but that doesn't answer the question why are they staying in Pattaya, does it?

They have to be in town for when the BF visits so might as well stay in town. As has been said already these girls have several men on the go, sending money, so they don't have to work the bars anymore.

How do you or the OP know that? He just stated how it looked. And asked why they are still in Pattaya. Many posters try to answer.

So, imagine what it must be like for the younger ones.

Because Pattaya is now home to them and replaced their real home…Real home is one of 2 options - either taken advantage of by relatives who are always looking for money from their family cash cow or her village knows how she makes her money and many not all look down upon her as an outcast and whore…she has no future in her village

Why would she want to return to either option?

many has left, living back home with a nice house built by foreigner

Most of the answers are contained in your original post. A variety of reasons but, in one way or another, related to money. Personally I enjoy the company of the former bar girls.
