compassionate lot on this thread eh? One coment was hoping they suffer more! Ok so they are politicians but there is no need to be unsympathetic. In old age one has to be very careful about loss of balance. Yes, I think they should retire but I also hope they both recover soon.

It's a simple fix with a replacement ball and a spike that goes inside the femur after the broken part is cut off. Does involve a serious operation though, which may be difficult for the aged. Osteoporosis ( brittle bones ) is far more common in women than men, which explains why women are more prone to fractures after a fall.

Little old ladies don't do well if they can't move around. Actually any old person doesn't do well not moving around. Trust me, no one with a broken hip is doing anything except lying down- a sitter for pneumonia and death.

 

It's just not possible to put a cast on and send them on their way.

Pelosi doesn't deserve compassion for what she has done, IMO. Just inserting Harris into the campaign puts her beyond the Pale, IMO.

I slipped on a wet floor near my indoor swimming pool -- busted water fountain leak I hadn't noticed in the dim locker room entrance. I went up in the air like I was on ice skates.

 

So just after age 71, following hip fracture, I had full hip replacement -- 74 birthday next month. It has slowed me down but no pain.
