Has anyone done this recently? Is it easy? I plan to do a border bounce at the Nakhon Phanom - Thakhek border next month.  I will exit then enter Thailand again on an exemption stamp.  My main question is do I have to stay over night there? Ideally I'd like to go and come back the same day. 

 

And are they a border where you have to give them tea money like in Savannakhet? In Savannakhet they asked me for 100 baht extra upon entry and exit and when I asked why they did not respond.

Should be fine. At worst perhaps few baht for assistance.

Should not be required.

Assume you are doing the trip alone.

Take some extra cash in case you get a squeeze for one night stay.

Not yet reported - but Nong Khai has started requiring overnight, so could happen there also.  Be prepared for the possibility.
