This was one of my big fears about Trump. I posted to AN about it several times. I think he's capable of doing a 180 on China. It's already happening with Tik Tok. Trump actually initiated the ban on Tik Tok but now says he has "a warm place in my heart" for it. Watch out for Trump trying for a Nixon Goes to China moment.

But I know someone who is right behind him.

IMO Trump knows how damaging tariffs can be to the U.S. consumer and has only used the threat of tariffs to get some concessions out of XI, whatever they may be.  Some may say concessions that will benefit Trump, personally.  I don't deny that but I think his prime motivation is to catch, for lack of betters words, off guard.

No matter what, XI knows Trump is not bluffing if he doesn't get anything out of it.

Every time I see Donny boy next to China's XI or Russian Putin he seems to be out of their league.

They know that too. Both are quite amused about his overly eager long hand shakes and posing to the pics.

Not a glimpse of power, intelligent or stately aura.

In Don's case, it's not so much that the bark is worse than the bite. It's that he wants to be petted. And both Putin and Xi Jinping know this too well.

Bright enough to become POTUS.

Whatever that means.

It means the people who voted for him are not as bright as him.

The Trump Organization plans to build a Trump Tower in the Saudi capital Riyadh

I wonder what caused that bizarre decision? Riyadh is a <deleted> hole in the middle of a desert. Immensely wealthy and incredibly boring. Every interesting site can be seen in an afternoon. It's already got a heap of international hotels.

Jeddah would be a far better choice of locations.

Still crying that he won then? 😪

In Trump's last Presidency, the tariffs he put on China were a disaster for American farmers. Just like removing illegal immigrants will be a disaster for food production.

Somewhere on YouTube there's an Arkansas sweet potato farmer telling Americans to quit eating, if he has no illegals. Because the ones he employs are the only people who will pick his crops for $100 a day.

Trump makes threats all the time. They usually rebound on him if he actually goes through with them.

Have to remember ,The orange grifter is not that bright.

He has a load more money than you and he gets to fly on AF 1, and have world dignitaries grovel to him.

I could do with being that not bright.

Easily explained if one considers that he has become a politician, rather than an outsider that wants to tear it all down.

The Washington dark side is strong.

It's called 'free speech, expression' and not social platform should be banned.  If operating within the law, and not harmful.

Benning, restricting thinking out loud,  is simply censorship :coffee1:

Trump has not assumed office yet however the pathetic anti-Trump snivellers on here are already droning on. After a year or two of his presidency will be the time to assess his performance, not now.

The whole tic tok storm is American jealousy! China beat them in their own game...

Nixon's China move in the 70s was, in retrospect, not a bad idea.  Like it or not, the US cannot afford any kind or conflict with China.  And back then, as now, there were geopolitical concerns.  Anyway, today China has its own problems.  They probably can't afford any kind of conflict either.  They just want to do business.

We'll see what happens with Trump's tariffs.

I did not include the words Tik Tok in my post. You have to quote from the poster that I quoted, not from my post.
