As much as I am amazed by the prolific output of a certain few posters, I have long felt that it does not reflect well on the health of the forum when a handful of posters generate the majority of topics. When a small handful of posters dominate the forum, it has a crowding out effect and inhibits casual participation by the wider audience.

 

I also have serious doubts about whether it is healthy for forum management to pay content producers to generate topics, especially with assistance from AI, in order to generate traffic on the forum. For the most part these types of posts come across as the contrived posing of hollow questions, often with little follow up interaction, interest, or appreciation for the responses on the part of the OP. This may well generate clicks over the short term, but, long term, it detracts from a sense of community, which I think is a key component for a successful expat forum.

There is no AI, there are no content producers, the forum management isn't generating any topics or paying anyone to do so, they only moderate us children when we slap each other too hard and there is only one OP creating all of this Pub engagement rubbish and it's bob and his minions, I mean collin, I mean bob smith, no it's collin from dorset, whatever, it's just one drunk nonce troll getting tanked up in Soi 6 and he sometimes answers if you shout out the name "Mrs. Smith". DONE.

Maybe your posts are too sophisticated? You will not reach the simple minds here? Unfortunately many members here can't show any respect. But this behaviour is wide spread in many social medias. It's even going up to hate speeches. There are a lot being dead from the neck up, but enjoy their low IQ. Accept it or leave. More than a decade (or 2) I left this forum hoping that I wouldn't meet those grumpy humiliating guys anymore. But in 2022 when I entered again I found their sons here. So no change whatsoever. I love your posts.

I worked in a remote area for six years. I bought a house, and had the mortgage paid off in 18 months, before I was 30.

 

Nowadays, the ordinary working stiff has to sign up for a mortgage that will carry over into their retirement years.

 

I can't find any positivity in that state of affairs.
