In a remarkable crackdown, cyber police have arrested a 37-year-old man for allegedly operating a YouTube channel that profited from selling gun barrels and firearms online. The suspect, known as Chaiyut, was nabbed during a decisive raid in Tha Som, Hua Sai district, Nakhon Si Thammarat, after authorities obtained a search warrant from the Pak Phanang Provincial Court.

 

The investigation, led by Trairong Piwpan from the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau, was sparked by online surveillance that revealed illicit transactions involving rifled gun barrels through a YouTube account named "ตนมี ฝีมือ." Undercover officers engaged with the seller, confirming the illegal activity by purchasing a gun barrel and tracing the transaction back to Chaiyut.

 

Upon the raid, police discovered four methamphetamine pills on Chaiyut, as well as a significant stash of firearms and ammunition at his residence. Chaiyut, who was apprehended at his workplace, a flood relief site, defended his arsenal by claiming it was for self-defence.

 

 

His spouse, Busaya, confirmed the couple's possession of the weapons during a search of their home, which uncovered the illegal cache. The search of Chaiyut’s vehicle revealed a 9mm blank-firing gun, further cementing suspicions of his illegal activities.

 

Moreover, deeper investigation into Chaiyut's mobile communications exposed more damning evidence, highlighting his involvement in purchasing modified firearms capable of firing live rounds through the LINE app. Chaiyut confessed to his interest in collecting weapons for personal protection but vigorously denied ownership of the drugs, implicating a shrimp worker named Nan instead.

 

Chaiyut faces serious charges, including the illegal possession of unregistered firearms and narcotics. The suspect and the seized contraband are now in the hands of Bangnob Police Station investigators as the case unfolds.
