A police pickup truck veered off the road and crashed into a roadside lamp post in Cha-Am, Phetchaburi, leaving two people injured, including a senior police officer.

The crash occurred at approximately 16:30 on 27 December along the southbound lane of Phetkasem Road, near kilometre marker 204+100. Officers from Cha-Am Police Station, rescue teams from Sawang Sanphet Foundation, highway rescue personnel, and an EMS unit from Cha-Am Hospital were dispatched to the scene.

At the crash site, a badly damaged four-door police pickup truck was found after colliding with a lamp post, which was broken into two pieces. Two injured men were located nearby.

The driver was identified as Pol. Lt. Col. Chaowalit Khankarut, Deputy Superintendent of Border Patrol Police Division 14. He suffered chest pain and appeared disoriented, rendering him unable to provide a statement to authorities. A passenger in the vehicle sustained minor injuries but remains unidentified. Both were transported to Cha-Am Hospital for medical treatment.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash, with initial reports suggesting that the truck driver lost control before striking the post.

That may take some explaining to his superiors.

I see that there is no mention of alcohol/drug testing.

Surely you don't think they were returning from a liquid lunch   :shock1:

As for the alcohol test, there were no 10-year-old school kids available to blow in the bag

Speeding as usual and lost control, other than that we will probably never know the full story.

Probably in their phones after a long lunch more outstanding police personnel

For reasons as yet unknown...
