Stabbing Incident in Pattaya Leaves Japanese Tourist Dead; Suspect Caught

I wonder if he was so blasé about it once he sobered up and realised the implications of his actions.

New Year's Eve in the monkey house will give him some time to reflect on what his future might look like after taking a life.  Unless he is a connected hi-so, in which case he might be out on bail.

Clearly, from this cogent testimony; the Japanese many decided to attack first.

Perhaps, he had just been waiting for some good opportunity to try out his newly-mastered KickBoxing skills he had picked up in Thailand.

Unfortunately, his First Flying Kick did not do the job, and as a result, the Japanese man was soon undone by his thoughtless intervention and lack of sufficient kick-boxing practice.

Here is a better testimony than has hitherto been added to this thread.

Now, all is clear as mud.

Except, we know that there is a video of this incident which may not yet have been released to us here.

I disagree, it is part of their culture, and from the very top down.

I take it you don't watch Thai TV.

Loads of soap operas showing scenes where men are brutally assaulting females.

Thats exactly the BIG reason why all this <deleted> happens in REAL life.
Thai authorities are so STUPID to allow this on TV every single day. Saw it the first time I came to TH 32 years ago, still going on. It never changed... It is the authorities who are to blame !

I watched an old episode of Midsomer Murders last night. Three gruesome murders, incest, and blackmail - set in a beautiful rural English village.

Erm,

But its make believe and not supposed to be taken seriously by level-headed people that went to school.

Whatever happens now, we have a Japanese family in mourning for the New Year, and the Half Thai man's family wondering how many years he is going to be in jail through his stupidity, in stabbing somebody to death in a drunken stupor.

I'd suggest the majority of us never carry a knife and I doubt the one the suspect had with him was of the Swiss Army variety.  I'll never understand why anyone feels the need to carry a knife. Tools belong in a tool box - not in your pocket when you're out for a drink.

Says the keyboard warrior. It's a handy tool. Carried one all my working years. Comes in handy.

It seems that the prevalence of knives as the weapon of choice is becoming a worldwide phenomena. Anybody and everybody seem to be carrying one around with them. We live in very dangerous and unpredictable times to the point where you have to assume anyone who you may wish to confront is going to be armed with one. There are many unsavoury types out there willing to use them without hesitation. Think before you jump in.
I hope this guy rots in jail but I won’t hold my breath.

You dont know what you are talking about, Knifes are good to carry, the other guy sees it and immediately gives up, unless his is bigger and he knows how to handle it. Everyone has a right to have one and self defend.

I used to carry a mine really nice 6" cold steel blade, but got confiscated many years ago. Around here in the south, everyone has one, my in laws and all have their 8" as sharp as a Gillette.

Maybe you should check Thai law better. At least if your blade is fixed or folding and mover 6 inc.

It's just not worth it.

He was arguing with his girl so i'm sure he was sober enough. Making signs at the cops was another sign that he was concious enough and knew what he was doing by being arrogant about his doings and realizing that he was done for.

Oh well, did these folks forgot the memo....fighting after a night in  Thai Club does not end well?  Did the Japanese guy forget to mind his own business?  Was it his GF that the Brit/Thai was arguing with?  Did anyone scream for help that got the Japanese guy to try and play Batman?  No sympathy for More Runs who think they can fight and  win in this city.  Remember, there are some dangerous people coming here...some of them are killers, or will use whatever means necessary to not get killed in hand to hand combat.

Looking at the smug murderer, he deserves the full impact of what's coming

I wonder what's coming. Life in prison?  Somehow I doubt it. Let's hope he is is not from a wealthy family.

Did you actually see men brutally beating women on the show? Was it a regular occurrence?

You do not see this in the UK, as it is not culturally acceptable to regularly show men beating women on TV.

There may be scenes of domestic violence, but it is dramatised to show it is unacceptable, which is not the case in Thailand, where it is regular, often validated and considered acceptable due to the victim 'cheating'.

Thais are far more likely to mimic what they see on TV than people in the UK.

Daily Mail on Pattaya:

"Embarrassed officials have made progress in gentrifying the region with family tourism projects but a ravenous nightlife industry and corrupt police have hampered their efforts, with undesirables from all nations still attracted to the seedy city."

A British dual national, David Maensiri, was arrested for allegedly murdering a Japanese tourist in Thailand

He looks Luk Khrueng, possibly from Thai mother and British father with Thai/British passports.

He also looks likes he's on something with alcohol/drug problems.
