Well

Nice to ?
This is in fact he did when he became president. Thousands lost their life since then including US soldiers.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmy_Carter's_engagement_with_Ruhollah_Khomeini

Please explain how thousands lost their life (sic) because of him.  Granted, Operation Eagle Claw was a disaster, but why blame Carter for the failure as bad intentions?

Remember all the finger pointing after the Bay of Pigs?

He was a decent human being and the second worst President after Biden. RIP Jimmy

One cannot be BOTH nice AND a good president.

This was his undoing....the fact that....

Jimmy, in his ignorance of the Real World, was unable to comprehend this simple truth.

Jimmy was elected during the year of our bicentennial, as you might know.

The problem with Jimmy was that he was not exciting enough.

Fortunately, months before the election, we had gone to Willow Grove Naval Air Station, several months prior to the election, on July 4th.

On July 4th, we were treated to an F4 Phantom solo display....one which they do not do anymore, due to .....who knows why.

But, it looked like this, only just a tiny bit better with more extremely low fly-bys with afterburners...or something.....

Cool as Crap!

Take a look at this if you don't believe me....

Anyway, the US Marines, in their F4 Phantoms do this TWICE as good....please believe me.

Just saying....that....compared to Jimmy.....

The F4 Phantom is so much more beautiful.

This is the plane that will go down in history as being the VERY BEST.......

And, then, what about poor Jimmy?

Compared to the F4, Jimmy never came close....

By a long shot.

==============

I saw that F4 at Willow Grove.

And, I saw that F4 in Viet Nam.

And, that is one heck of an amazing thing.

Nothing will ever come close to the beauty of it.

==================

I am probably one of the last of the Mahicans left from the years of Carter and before....

So then...

Hopefully you will not discount my recollections of those great times...which....were....

NOT really that great.

Play that FUNKY Music....

White Boy....

Don't like Carter, don't comment. Bringing trump in is just a pathetic attempt at deflecting, with emphasis on pathetic.

Really, you don't think Jimmy Carter was one of our worst Presidents ever? And Joe biden, how's things going in America under his rule?

Perhaps the break improved your sanity but it hasn't improved your ability with the English language, nor the Acumen of your observations

Jimmy was a good man.

Maybe too good for nation where whoring criminals are elected by greedy money driven business types.... and poor fools who don't carry $ 20 bill in their pocket.

I think its only "Dark" for certain people who can not accept reality -- other people may have viewed the last 4 years as the "Dark time in US history" a period -with the abandonment of people who would rather try to hang onto the outside of an aircraft taking off then leaving their fate in the hands the Afghanistan mujaheddin a dark time for the Americans who watched jails being emptied, while over 10 million un-vetted people headed to their neighborhoods, Watched why they were not only free to cross the their boarder, but many were assisted in flying in from countries we normally class as hostile.

Yer I think  there are a lot more people optimistic about the days to come.

Edit.--- Ice Cream Joe is going to do the eulogy---- I would bet London to  Brick--that Joe can not just stand there and just talk about how good a person was.  He is just to much of a narcissist to do - the world will be watching so he just will have to tell them how good and what a great job he did.  He will fit it in--- Promise

Don't worry.  Things have been bad, but they're about to get better.  Come Jan 20th, things will finally be heading in a positive direction.

Wasn't it fairly narcissistic of Biden to run for office knowing full well that he has dementia and is not fit to serve?

Rather harsh but I actually do recall as a liberal democrat when he won and took over D.C. with his grits revolution that he was considered quite right wing for a democrat.

However, comparing him to Trump is a bridge too far in trashing him.

Trump is in a LOW class of his own.

Also to add, I'm not super familiar with Georgia politics back then, but it is the DEEP SOUTH, and I'm sure back then getting the "redneck" vote was a must do to have any chance to win.

Oh  for sure, you have valid points. The thing is that we have to look at the past as it occurred and not let the current characteristics cloud that reality. By this I mean, it is irrefutable that Carter in his post Presidential period tried to be a humanitarian and his Habitat to Humanity activities was a demonstration of leading by example. However, he was also arrogant and had the attitude that he knew better. Some would call it self assuredness, but others might say that he wasn't a good team player.  Carter  sometimes felt snubbed when the other Presidents would not ask his advice. Well, the incident with North Korea showed why;

As president, Bill Clinton took Jimmy Carter up on an offer to help de-escalate tensions with North Korean leader Kim Il Sung, according to the Clinton Library. “The use of President Carter to resolve this conflict proved complicated, when he announced an unofficial agreement with North Korea to bring an end to the stalemate on CNN before allowing the Clinton Administration officials to review the agreement,”  He shouldn't have done that.

As you intimate, perspective is important. Biden was once opposed to desegragation busing, before he changed his ways. And it can be said that Biden did his utmost for the Afro American community as VP and then President.

Jimmy Carter in his second run for Governor sought the endorsement of Lester Maddox the  noted segragationist  Governor of Georgia. That doesn't mean Carter was a bigot, but it does show that his principles were not necessarily as pristine clean as the image promotes.

No denying Carter was a good and decent man, and that he accomplished some very good  changes such as his appointment of women to the judiciary, However, as a President, he didn't leave much of a legacy except the Camp David accords, which is pretty  decent, but not enough to make him stand out.

So while having a good laugh at that Jingthing----will you take a bet -- ??  I will bet that Ice Cream Joe will mention something about his achievements while he is eulogizing Carter----how about something like a 3 months sabbatical from ASEAN  for whoever loses .

Let us all know.................:coffee1:

Lovely man but horrendous decision to back the Ayatollah against the Shah.

That was the start of the march of Islam that will eventually destroy the Western World.

The de facto leader of the Muslim world, Iran, is not fairing very well.  Israel has all but destroyed its air defense system and possibly damaged its electrical grid.  Iran's warehouse (Syria) of terrorist armaments and much of its contents are gone.  And Syria's new rebel regime will most likely distance itself from the mullahs in Iran.  If Trump furnishes Israel with bunker busting bombs the Israeli air force could very well destroys Iran's nuclear facility at Natanz.

If that happens, look for the Saudis to normalize relations with Israel with other Arab countries following.  Iran will lose much of its influence in the Middle East and will eventually have to give up backing the Houthis in Yemen.  The wild card here is Turkey.  Will Erdogan lose his grip on power.  If he does, look for radical Islam to take a back seat to the moderates. Will Pakistan make peace with India since being burned by India's archenemy, China.  Only time will tell what happens next.

Carter's parting "gift" to the incoming demagogue elect.

As indicated in the OP -- yes there is something "interesting" about the timing of Carter's death.

About the Panama Canal, it really should be the Colombia Canal as American imperialists who I'm sure Trump would admire, separated Panama from them.

Americans hate being told the truth and when our leaders act like adults.

Jimmy told 'em they should wear sweaters inside in the winter instead of cranking up that "Arab" dinosaur juice.

Whaaaat?

And we should treat our allies fairly and give back the Panama canal.

Horrible!

Little did Jimmy know Poppy Bush was plotting with the Iranians to keep the hostages until after the election and they would receive ILLEGAL ARMS that Congress banned in exchange.

The ongoing hostage so-called "crisis" was enough to tip the election and on inauguration day the Iranians released the hostages and later Oliver North (American traitor) would sell cocaine imported from South America on CIA airplanes to Los Angeles, which would then go on to create the "crack epidemic" after someone figured out if you added baking powder to the cocaine and cooked it down to "rocks" it made it smokable and much more potent and addictive.  North then purchased arms illegally and sent it to our enemies Iran, which was run by religious Wackjobs.

Traitors.

Kicking Jimmy in the nuts elevating ruthless traitors to control America.

Sounds familiar, fast forward to 2024.

Russian traitor who hates the working class is going to somehow save the working class...

By bringing in H1-B visa holders from India because they're willing to work for less than Americans.

More Traitors who lied about "America First". 😄
