Five Injured as Police Pursue Drug Traffickers in Rayong: Methamphetamine Pills Seized
Picture from responders. On the morning of January 21, a high-speed police chase in Rayong province resulted in the arrest of two drug traffickers, the seizure of 640 methamphetamine pills, and injuries to five police officers. The incident occurred in Khao Chamao district after a sting operation was set up to apprehend the suspects. Led by Police Colonel Phatthanchai Phamor Phiboon, officers from Khao Chamao Police Station organised a drug-buying sting at the Khao Chong Lom intersection in Moo 4, Cham Kho Subdistrict. When the suspects, Mr. Pojanart, 38, and Ms. Chutima, 46, arrived in a black Isuzu D-Max pickup truck, police attempted to make an arrest. However, the driver, Mr. Pojanart, sped off in an attempt to escape. In the ensuing chase, the suspects rammed two police vehicles. The first collision damaged an Isuzu pickup belonging to the authorities, injuring Police Lance Corporal Kritmeth Denduang, who was inside the vehicle. The chase continued toward the Prasae Reservoir Road, where another police vehicle attempted to block the suspects. Mr. Pojanart rammed into this vehicle as well, injuring Police Sub-Lieutenant Sitthichai Klaipan, Police Sergeant Major Udon Thanda, Police Corporal Patcharaporn Suphannawong, and Police Lance Corporal Setthasak Wongamat. During the pursuit, the suspects threw methamphetamine pills from their vehicle, which were later recovered by police. The chase ended when the suspects’ pickup truck collided with an embankment and became immobilised. Police apprehended Mr. Pojanart and Ms. Chutima at the scene, while a third suspect, identified as Mr. Methee, managed to flee on foot. A subsequent search of the suspects’ vehicle revealed additional methamphetamine pills. Further investigation led Mr. Pojanart to guide police to a location in Moo 11, Wang Wa Subdistrict, Klaeng District, where officers seized more methamphetamine pills. Both Mr. Pojanart and Ms. Chutima confessed to possessing the drugs with the intent to distribute them to customers. They were charged with possession of a Category 1 drug with intent to sell. They, along with the confiscated evidence, have been handed over to investigators at Khao Chamao Police Station. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the third suspect, Mr. Methee, who remains at large. -- 2025-01-22 -

Does the KTB and UOB banking app on phone work in most countries abroad?
It works overseas but make sure you keep your phone number active even if you're using WiFi. My phone payment lapsed and within a few months I lost my number and access to online banking. I've just had to get a new number and reinstall app. -

Tax files
From the information I've read, under the DTA between Thailand and the UK, UK state pensions are assessable income whereas Government pensions are not. That does not necessarily mean you will pay tax on a UK state pension - the allowances are not too bad. All it means is that such income will be added to any other income and assessed for tax. -
