When it comes to politics, people are not lying as much as that they have been lied to, that’s what is reiterated.

Yes, there are hypocrites everywhere, but referring to someone who posts nonsense in that way, claims to be smarter than most here, and posts outrageous things in that way just seems to fit. A Christian, meaning all, are imperfect humans who follow Christ. This means they are humans and like all others are capable of making mistakes and not acting Christian like some times. God doesn't expect us to be perfect robots. He expects us to follow him and do what we can to be good and not turn our backs on him, having faith he is the way, and to try to be better the next time. Yes, I know people from all faiths that act like they don't follow their religions, like here in Thailand, where they pray to a statue hoping for money and gold.

I'll take that as an admission your OP was intended to be nasty.

I have no problem with someone who claims to be smarter than me, all he/she has to do is prove it.

Important Update:   Robust Chicken-breast Collagen Issue has now been solved....!

a.  As you know, even after using a variety of roasting methods, the local retailer where I purchased the many kilos of chicken-breasts, ....seems to have provided me with birds that are not fit for roasting.

b. I had become frustrated and disappointed.

c.  After roasting, no matter what I tried....

d.  The roasted-result was like chewing on a rubber Dog-Toy.

e. I was just about to chuck out the bags of breasts when....I decided to give it one last, final, College-Try.

f. So.....

g.  I took out my slow-cooker, which also has a HI-setting that can boil.

h. I filled the cooker up to the brim with breasts.

i.  I turned the cooker to HI, and boiled them for about 45 minutes.

j.  Next, I set the cooker to LOW.  And I cooked, and I cooked, for about NINE hours, until 12:33 AM, this morning.

k.  Happy to Report:  I poked one breast with a fork, and the thing just completely fell apart, so soft and tender was it.

l.  This means that there is no need to chuck the breasts.  I can keep them in my freezer, and just enjoy chicken soup...whenever.....

m.  One more thing of importance:  I added about 4 inches of ginger to the soup.  And, it tastes GREAT!

=======================

I am not much of a soup lover.

I prefer roast meat, same as Tom Jones.

So, in the future, i will never again attempt roast chicken in Thailand.

Instead, I will always opt for roasting either Pork or Suckling Lamb.

=================

Thank you for the info about Tops.

I will use Tops, in the future.

Tops is one of the best retailer for food in my area.

I have known the manager of one of the Tops stores for over a decade.

Such a very thoughtful, kind, and helpful person is he....

And, it's nice for me, too, to have at least one friend in Chiang Mai.

I am feeling better now about my breasts...because.....

All is well that ends well.

And, in addition, it's just so nice to start out the New Year on the right foot.

=============

More later about the Pork sourcing issue, on January 15th....hopefully....

I take it all back....!

Even after slow-cookering, the breasts are still tougher than leather.

Very long stringy fibers that are almost as tough as Nylon.

I will NOT name the name of the retailer, because there is really no advantage to doing so.

And, because, maybe, these breasts all come from the same source, here locally.

However, we KNOW that they are cheap.

And, here is proof:

image.thumb.png.2bd718c7e04551e3860e79e877e6bf60.png

Are these basically best when fed to the dogs?

For me, they are completely inedible, and at Costco in Taiwan, they would not have been sold for eating at table by humans.

I think that the ones I bought are completely unsalvageable, at least for my consumption.

But, there is a neighborhood cat that I like, and I will feed the breasts tot he cat, over the next YEAR, maybe.... 22 Kgs left to go......

Just how tough is the breast muscle meat on these birds...if they are birds.....?

Well, far tougher than the muscles on this guy, in his prime:

image.png.ca5ec852b1d9922a7c2663df8c9d4a4d.png

So, with these chicken breasts that I bought locally at the major retailer.....

I would say....

You can LOOK, but you better not touch.

Now, for me....

It's gonna be Pork and Lamb all the way

From here on in.

And, the breasts go to the cats.

Dear Folks,

The chicken breasts are just too tough in my city, here in Thailand.

As the next best thing, I am going to switch away from breasts and begin roasting pork.

I love pork, in fact, and always have.

Here is a very informative vid from a seller of pork in the USA.

But, what to do, and where to buy, in Thailand, and not any specific city, but absolutely from one of the major retailers; because I want meat that has been kept at optimal temps to prevent disease, from slaughter to the oven.

Also, i want to be able to use my AmEx card, if possible, to make repeated purchases.

And, I intend to buy about 20 Kgs at a time (which is not a lot for me), because I tend to freeze it and then consume it over a period of months, not weeks.

As I say, when I was young, next to breast meat, pork was just about as tasty.

When i was in China, where everyone loves pork, I bought pork from the local wet markets, but I found it overly tough, compared to what I used to get from COSTCO stores in Taipei.

Huge difference, in my estimation, between what I got in China and what I got from the Costcos in Taiwan.

However, since I am no longer in Taiwan, but in Thailand, and since, unfortuatnely, there seem to be no Costcos here....then.....

Where to buy to get tender pork loin, of good quality?

And on to the vid:

Is pork expensive in Thailand....?

Because I have never purchased pork here in CM.

Actually, the cost might not bother me as much as getting stuck with a tough cut of pork.

I will be heading out shopping, once more, around January 15th, when the tourists are less, and when traffic-jams are less likely.

Thanks.

Gamma

Note:  I don't think I need any help with the roasting.  I have been roasting pork for many years, and it turns out fine, when the meat is not tough to begin with.  I normally just use a large oven, and I do not plan to roast over the coals, outdoors (although I could, I suppose, if I were willing to buy a charcoal roasting grill).  I will use one or both of the two Electrolux convection ovens that I have in my kitchen.  I have the largest Electrolux ovens....I think they are about 73 Liter ovens, in fact.

Try Cheese2MeatU (real name) in Udon Thani.

Strange how posts seem to stray completely away from the original topic.  What does religion have to do with where to buy pork loin?

Buy an airfryer youll never have dry chicken breasts again

Put a bit of rub or savory salt on then 7 minutes per side@180c... bingo

You have really intergrated into the Thai way of life since your transision from Trump land.

Good look buying tender chicken and bulk superior pork with your Amex card.

More of a gourmand.

So, you would say that Tops might be most similar to COSTCO for quality of meats?

This might be my problem, because I have been buying chicken breasts from a different retailer, and have not had much success.

Very tough old birds, or fast-growth birds....

Or, maybe those birds sold by the other major retailer in CM are weightlifters, or something....maybe....

Have you looked into starting your own farm

Just head to your nearest BigC they have the pork loin out on trays, their temperature control must be pretty good as I've never had any issue and I buy it regularly (2-3 times a week)

I just scanned through quickly.

Can't be bothered reading all.

Pork loin is not really the best cut for roasting it's very lean and gets dry quickly if you cook it just a bit too much. I have cooked iberico pork ribs which is the loin with the bone attached but i cook them med-well.

Pork leg or collar-butt would be more flavorful and less dry for roasting.

Makro sells whole pork loin backstraps.  Unlike that West, these tenderloin backstraps are cheaper than those with fat.  Bacon cuts are often more expensive then tenderloin.  I've picked up some just beautiful pork loin from Makro.  Plus, if you buy the entire backstap you get a discount.  I buy the backstraps to get the discount and then cut them up at home to put in the freezer.

This is your friend.  Don't enter the kitchen without one. Guaranteed to make those tough chicken breasts as tender as Kobe beef.  I have one just like this.  Bon Appetite.

Can't advise on this. I gave up eating meat years ago after my one and only visit to a slaughter house.

Obviously you've never shot, field dressed, and cut up a deer or elk.  Same same except you get your own hands dirty.  Or fish like salmon (less messy though).

Just because you eat things, that you can't hear their screams of anguish & pain, doesn't mean they don't suffer.

Along with the killing of anything and everything, so you can have a plant based diet, if that' your choice.

Are you SURE???

If this would work, then...I will buy one.

But, you don't know just how tough these old birds are, maybe.

I have never purchased tougher chicken breasts.

Not even suitable for dog food, actually.

What do people do with this meat, anyway?

Because the store sells a lot of it.

Do they chop it up and stir fry it or something?

Even then, it must be like chewing on a dog toy or chewing gum.

Really a bad product.

However, a decent price.

I have never run into meat like this in Taiwan, for example.

I thought of contacting the store to find out what's happening.

But then, would they even tell me?

Maybe I will send them an email...because it's quite strange.

Anyway...I like pressure cookers.  Easy to use. Saves energy.  And FAST. Easy to clean.

THANKS for the alternative idea.

But, NO WAY that this meat is suitable for anything else, such as broiling over the coals, or anything else.

Terrible.

Dry does not bother me.

I am talking about shoe-leather tough meat.

Terrible product.

Maybe they use it for some kind of stir frying.

Or, for dog food.

Methinks the OP's palate is so refined he should not be living in Thailand.

Oh <deleted>, he'll probably start a thread on the best country for gourmets. Or is he a gourmand?

I was going to suggest Tops. Saw some lovely, packaged loins yesterday.

I also found decaffeinated coffee for brewing (Hallaleujah) as I had run out.

It might be better if the pressure cooker were electric.

Kitchens get hot in Thailand.

An electric pressure cooker makes more sense during the Hot Season.
