Police officers from Chaiya Police Station, Surat Thani province, responded on January 6, to a report of two bodies discovered in a canal near Ban Tha Hak Bridge on Pa We Road, Moo 3, Pa We sub-district, Chaiya district. A blue-grey Honda Wave 110i motorcycle was also found next to the irrigation canal, under a bridge.

Fragments of the motorcycle were located near the edge of the canal, along with evidence suggesting a crash and skid marks leading to the bridge.

Upon further investigation, the bodies of two men were recovered nearby. The deceased were identified as Myanmar nationals, Mr. Aow Ko Piw, aged 21, and Mr. Aung Soe Moe. Both had been dead for approximately four days. Their bloated bodies were found face down, tangled in vegetation along the canal.

Initial police assessments indicate that the pair were involved in a motorcycle some days earlier. Evidence suggests the motorcycle struck a tree near the road before veering off the bridge, which stands over 7 metres high, plunging both riders into the canal.

Police believe the current carried the bodies approximately one kilometre downstream from the crash site.

An irrigation worker who discovered the incident reported noticing the motorcycle under the bridge and, upon closer inspection, found the decomposing bodies nearby. Alarmed by the sight and the strong odour, the worker immediately alerted the authorities.

Police have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the accident. They are also working to notify the families of the deceased.
