A collision occurred on January 7, on Phahonyothin Road near kilometre marker 199-200 in Khok Samrong district, where a motorcycle exiting a village road collided with a speeding pickup truck. The crash resulted in a fire that engulfed the motorcycle, leaving the rider dead at the scene.

Police Lieutenant Suttipong Sangthet, Deputy Inspector at Khok Samrong Police Station, responded to the crash at the sharp curve near Wat Wang Krathum. Emergency services, including the Khok Samrong Rescue Foundation and a rapid-response fire unit, rushed to the scene.

The incident took place on a four-lane road notorious for its sharp bends. Upon arrival, authorities found the pickup truck with severe front-end damage. Approximately 70 metres away, the remains of the motorcycle, reduced to charred wreckage, lay in the middle of the road. Nearby was the lifeless body of the rider, identified as Mr. Natthapong, aged 41.

Distraught relatives were seen weeping and embracing the deceased at the scene, while authorities cordoned off the area to prevent further incidents.

Initial investigations revealed that Mr. Natthapong had exited a village road onto the main highway without sufficient caution. A pickup truck, travelling at high speed from Nong Muang towards Khok Samrong, collided with the motorcycle. The impact flung both the rider and the bike apart, igniting a fire that consumed the motorcycle.

Authorities recorded evidence at the scene and detained the pickup truck driver for further questioning. The body of the deceased was sent to a hospital for autopsy.
