Check with your SIM provider for their best international rates, a 10 minute call to the International Pensions Centre cost me B40 using Dtac's 004 prefix, the other providers have similar options.

i just checked AIS and it's pretty rubbish, 9 baht a minute to UK with the 399 baht package

HMRC have a very good webchat service which is what I use to contact HMRC. I have successfully used it a couple of times to get my tax code corrected on the spot. Use it during UK business hours.

  • My understanding is that is only if you calling within the UK, if you are calling outside the UK the last time I tried it wouldn't connect.

...or it could just be that you chose the most expensive option. The post you quoted suggested using DTAC's 004. The equivalent service on AIS would be 003, which you failed to select for one reason or another.

159 baht + VAT for 40 minutes. 4.25 baht per minute.

Better than nothing, looks like there's no carry forward so if you only use a few minutes, it's not that cheap

I don't think anyone suggested they were cheap. But okay if you are in a bind.
