I took a nutrition class in college over forty years ago and the first thing the instrcutor said "if you want to live a long life then eat less".  I think he was right because most of the really old people I have encountered are on the slim side.  I have always tried to maintain a BMI of 25 of less.  Currently my BMI is 22. Of course there are exceptions and some obese people live into their 80's and beyond.

Point number 6 may answer one of my questions, following a throat problem I struggle to get two litres of water a day down me but I get though a lot of watermelon, dragon fruit and oranges.

Does the high water content in these fruits compensate for the missing water.?

 

Also  do the numbers 10 and 12 on  "High Protein" yoghurt indicate the number of grams of protein in each.? Hoping your answer to this is yes as l also need to eat a lot of protein to compensate for weight loss.

Eating good clean food is the best preventative medicine alongside with exercise, it’s that easy. Though in this day and age of easy fast junk food, it becomes an issue of will and discipline for those that haven’t bothered to have a health conscious approach of their diet.

I will attempt to answer your first question. Water is water no matter what form it has, so yes fruit (or e.g. coffee or beer) will add to your water intake. Now the downside is that fruits are very sweet, and each gram of sugar will require around four grams of water to "process" in your body. This water is not part of your hydration as such, as it gets stored. This is also true for beer which contains a lot of sugar (carbs).

 

Coffee and beer also have the effect of being diuretics, so therefore drinking coffee and beer will dehydrate you, requiring you to drink even more water. Finally hydration has to do with salt as well ("water follows salt"), so if you drink too much pure water without enough salt (and electrolytes), the body cannot hold on to the water. But that doesn't mean it's a good idea to drink seawater, because that is another can of worms altogether!

I'd consider food is unhealthy, if it consistently spikes your insulin above normal level, which causes numerous problems.

 

Many Carbs, simple, sugars and complex, starchy, would definitely fall into that category.

 

If you must eat them, then exercising a bit of moderation would be advised.  Can be a challenge for many, due to their addictive effect on the body.

Greek ogurt is higher in protein, look for probiotic yogurt.

I agree that Greek yogurt is the best, since it is usually full of good fats as well. Beware low fat yogurt, since they will replace the fat with sugar to keep the taste and mouth-feel. For plenty of good protein eat organic/free-range eggs, fatty fish and grassfed beef.

Every breakfast place in Ko Phanang had "chia pudding", I e. yogurt and chia seeds.

start the day with exercise ..   push ups, pull ups,  chin ups, squats and some sort of ab workout

then a home brewed cappuccino,,   / heavy full fat cream

never more than  1 liter of mineral water per day

I eat when I'm hungry ..   and eat until I'm satiated  .   no more than 2 meals a day

 Fatty red meat ,,   beef   never less than 300 grams     eggs  every meal  ..  4-6 size 0   cooked in butter 

 and 1/2 pack of bacon  1x a day

occassional fish/chicken/pork  .  oh and don't forget salt ! 

"0" veggies  &  grains, fruit     "0" carbs   and that means "0" fiber    no need for sawdust in my diet

 

more energy than I've had in the last 20 years ..     oh.   and currently about 10% body fat

I eat eggs everyday for first meal, and as stated, a 'perfect food', of fat & protein.  At least 2 XL (-0-), if not more later on in the day.

So eating fruit that is up to 90% water is not hydrating as the water content is  stored. Well that is a blow. How about my home made vegetable soup which besides the veg has 1 litre of water plus 1stock cube, much the same.??

Looks like I'll have to persevere with the water.

A real crispy loaf ..  especially a semolina is my kryptonite ..  one slice is not enough    so I treat myself  like every 3 months or so

pair that with some Pecorino with Truffle and Prosciutto     total bliss

Anything processed. Anything with sugar added. White rice, white bread.

 

My philosophy is if it grows below ground, it's bad for you. If it grows above ground, it's good.
