Met her in a bar, took her home that night, 1 week later living together, another week and married. 15 years and one son later, and it's still great.

Former British wife, courted for two years before marriage and it was a disaster.

I've seen photos of your Thai wife, and your British wife.

Less said about your British wife, the better. I can confirm your Thai wife was a stunner when you met her.

I kinda laughed a little bit about this assumption that all Western wives are whales and Thai women are stunning.

Right before before Christmas we went to San Diego for my Grandsons 2nd birthday.

Both my wife and my ex wife obviously were there.

Both of them almost exactly the same age, mature women, but equally I find them both stunningly good looking mature ladies,  but ln different ways.

They get on very well together, probably in their collective glee in bitching together about me

A difficult divorce doesn't  mean you need to believe every Western woman is an evil witch, they can both be beautiful

They all want something , or else why would they be looking for a foreign partner ? Maybe the trick is to find one with realistic expectations , not one who wants a new 20 mill baht house and new Merc just because someone in the next village got that .

That`s the problem though - choosing a partner who`s just there for the $£ s - however much you give them , they always want more .

Should we all identify ourselves in your writing?

Perhaps unsurprisingly, AI checkers advise that this article is 100% AI-generated.

Is it Charlie H?

If so, nothing wrong with that, except it would be 'good manners' IMHO, to identify it as such....

I would also agree with that.

I read it and my immediate reaction, was ChatGPT.

That being said wasn't a bad topic and I responded as if it had been written by a human.

But given that we all know an increasing number of these essay style posts showing up on AN are AI, maybe a little honesty and disclosure wouldn't be a bad thing

Its possible to meet a thai girl interested in you and not your money, but you have to go while youre young. If youre old theres no chance for anything like that

Remember, love is lust cut up imto little pieces !!

Dear @CharlieH,

What is the purpose of this?

Should we all identify ourselves in your writing?

Or do you want to warn new members about what could happen in Thailand?

Or what?

You are long enough here to know that whatever you write, it doesn't really matter. Because obviously "my one if different".

kinda a long winded tale that has been written about and discussed to no end and will continue long after we're gone from here

I knew a Thai gal - absolute stunner! - who was juggling 5 sponsors at the time. I always thought, "Good for her."

As you say, I know of one woman in Bangkok who is an absolute stunner and a shrewd businesswoman.

When I met her in a nonsexual business setting, she was thirty-two. We became friendly, and as time went on (about three years), during our many conversations, it was revealed she had several sponsors from the West and Asia. She had managed to have them pay for her “rented” condo. However, she is, in fact, the landlord of two condos in Bangkok, one of which she lives in and one she uses with her various sponsors. When they came for a visit, she rearranged personal items concerning her and that particular visiting sponsor. Additionally, condos, vehicles, her parent’s home in Songkla province, a condo near Hatyai airport, and her younger brother’s education attending dental school at PSU-Hatyai are all paid for by sponsors.

One day, she told me she had never had a chance at an education. However, she said, “I have my looks, my figure, and only a few years of opportunity to use them, as I would have used a university degree.”

I always think, “Good for her.”
