Trump’s Inauguration: A Gathering of Global Far-Right Leaders

Jan 20, 2025 – A Grim Milestone

This inauguration of a U.S. President may feature the smallest crowd in 40 years—a reflection not so much of a Trump-caused, deeply divided nation but a fittingly cold, dismal day. Even the weather seems to disapprove of this occasion—Mother Nature’s retribution to the climate denier. The coincidental lowering of the stars and stripes to half-mast seems not just symbolic but prophetic—the twilight of American democracy.

This is no ordinary event but the coronation of a convicted felon and a serial sex offender, who has declared bankruptcy six times currently with half a billion dollars in unpaid court fines.

The land of the free now looks less like the city on a hill and more like a crumbling façade—hollowed out by disinformation, authoritarianism, and the normalization of criminality at its highest office.

The end of U.S. democracy is nigh!

IMHO

  • Just a quick note for people who don't read a lot, probably too busy or something. Trump is not 'far right'. He is moderate by any sense of the word.

  • Yeah and the Pope is a Methodist.

No invitations for UK prime minister Starmer, or UK ambassador designate to the USA, Mandelson. One can only assume the special relationship between the US and the UK is so special that invitations are considered trivial and unnecessary. Or something like that.....

Not even close to a landslide…….. by any definition

Popular vote by less than 2% and a mile away from 350+ EC votes.

But indoors he will obviously have fewer participants.

Try fact checking before you claim the ridiculous.

MAGA supporters belatedly realize their vote for Trump was a mistake and reflected in current polls.

Votes are facts, polls not so much!!

He won the popular vote, (Donald Trump won the popular vote in the 2024 U.S. presidential election. He secured 77.3 million votes, which was more than Vice President Kamala Harris's 75.0 million votes. This made him the first Republican to win the popular vote since 2004.) he won all 7 SWING STATES, he got 312 Electoral College Votes and both Houses, by anyone standards that is a landslide!

Absolutely, considering  the majority of the MSM just before the election was saying how close the votes would go, even on election day. They were all shocked when Trump all the swing states, it was a huge win!

There was no landslide. 1.4 percent margin one of the smallest ones in the last 100 years.

He won but stop LYING.

Trump ignores Carter mourning period and returns flags to full height at Mar-a-Lago - https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/trump-flag-mar-a-lago-jimmy-carter-mourning-b2678854.html

You're living in the Trumpist post truth world.

Career government workers are being screened for their loyalty to Trump.

He's completely un-American.

It's supposed to be about loyalty to the constitution, not loyalty to dear leader.

So people voted for this to lower egg prices. They won't even get that.

If they're Executive department appointments, they should be screened.

How many employees got canned under Obama and Biden?

Hypocrite.

It moved inside because it's too cold and windy.

Nobody to blame on that one.

I wish the electoral vote margin would have been razor thin.

Stop lying. Talking about career non political employees.

What Trump is doing to them is what fascist dictators do.

Are they appointed or not appointed? If they are appointments, they are fair game.

How many employees got canned under Obama and Biden? I think Obama s-canned three times as many as Trump in his first term. Live and learn.

Are you talking Federal employees?

The federal workforce slightly declined during Obama’s presidency, primarily due to budget constraints, efficiency measures, and the gradual reduction of jobs related to military drawdowns in Iraq and Afghanistan.

According to the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), the civilian federal workforce shrank from approximately 2.1 million employees in 2009 to about 2.0 million by 2016.

Every president gets a portion of political appointments.

I'm obviously talking about CAREER non political people.

Trump (see Project 2025) intends to fire as many non-loyal to Trump regular employees as he can get away with.

Many of course will just quit or early retire in disgust.

Truly fascist stuff.

I am talking about Executive department appointments. They are (coincidentally) federal employees.

And again, I think Obama fired and replaced three times as many as Trump did in his first term.

There was no widespread or systematic effort to lay off executive department appointees.

Obama’s administration focused on efficiency and reducing waste in government.

Political appointees were less likely to face layoffs compared to career employees, as their roles were tied directly to the

Obama’s agenda.

The President gets (I think) about 4,200 appointments.

No union employee will be fired for not supporting Trump.

If they refuse to help implement a policy when it is their job to help implement it because they disagree, they should be fired.

Trump did not win in a landslide.

Trump did not even win a majority of the votes.

Are you illiterate and do not understand what a landslide win is?

Harris 75,019,257 votes (48.4%)       Trump  77,303,573 votes (49.9%)

Yes, Trump received more votes that Harris and  won the electoral college allocation of votes.

This does not make it a landslide victory.

For reference sake a landslide presidential election result was;

Lincoln v. McClellan

Reagan v. Carter

Nixon v. McGovern

Reagan v. Mondale

FDR v. Landon
