Tooth implants procedure

Im been given Amoxycillin 4x 500mg before making implants.

 

When I extracted a tooth, I was also given antibiotics, even I already was treated with antibiotics prior to the extraction.

 

Seems antibiotics is given just in case, and is his normal at every dentist/hospital.

It is customary in Thailand. I can't say re other places.

I have had several implants here was never prescribed anything before or after.  Maybe your Dentist has had issues with infected patients and is just being cautious.

I was reading about it after they got me the cocktail, and seems quite normal, 

 

Anyway, one more week with antibiotics is prescripted.

 

Conclusion. Prophylactic antibiotic for each implant surgery is not mandatory. Antibiotics are however useful in preventing postoperative infections after implant placement

I had exactly the same experience, although I had a tooth abcess on the tooth that was extracted had infected through the jaw to my sinus's and required two weeks antibiotics before they removed (I'd already had two root canals on that tooth that cost a fortune so it might as well been made of gold :) ). Then same with the Amoxycillin after they extracted the molar. All went well in the end, I'm cautious to take antibiotics unless needed, but had not much choice this time around. It's my first implant, and the entire procedure when completed in three weeks will have taken a total 5 months (I believe it should have been 4, for some reason they extended a visit by 1 month). All has gone well and I wish you well with your treatment.

Thanks, I will finnish these two in may, and then make two new, and hopefully finish in september. Got two visits back home to Norway in between. And Im happy to see Im getting 4 teeths done for 1/2 the price and hopefully without any complications. I will let you know when each step is completed.

May I ask what you paid? Im estimated 160k + the work and medication. Yesterday for two Titanium pins and work + medication, antibiotics and pain killers 42k

May I ask what you paid? Im estimated 160k + the work and medication. Yesterday for two Titanium pins and work + medication, antibiotics and pain killers 42k

 

How many days before you return to your normal exercise routine?  Not what the doctor told you but what you intend to do. I'm thinking about 2 teeth but keep putting it off because I don't want to stop running for weeks after the surgery.

Im on holiday now, so just swimming and easy work out. I do not want to risk bleeding the first week. When back at farm 7. February I will do some heavy lifting again, and 30-60 min rowing.

 

My experience a month off doesnt make any difference, and sometimes I have gained strenght just by maintenance exercises.

I would be a little leary of a dentist that didn't prescribe antibiotics.  Eliminate any chance of bone infection.  Something you definitely don't want.

They do not do in Scandinavia, but Even I was thinking about taking my chances without, I did not, because this is Thailand.

Bumrungrad gave me a week of Amox, after implant. Agree here with @KhunLA, especially when a Sinus lift is involved.

I never received antibiotics from my Thai dentist.

No problem. I just had a single molar done, I'd say the same treatment, titanium screw and ceramic crown (though still waiting on that - currently have a gum seperator installing final  impression and tooth fitting in next two weeks) and the cost was 35K THB all up. I live in Ubon Ratchathani, so the costs are cheaper here are often cheaper than Bangkok - so I think you got a good deal. Compared to what it would cost in Australia it's an absolute bargain and they have been very professional. Best of luck with it!
