Apologies for this massive assumption, but assuming all of the jobs paid about the same as the lower end on this NHS pay scale, that's over £300 billion.  Per year.  If a lot of these jobs are in the NHS then that's a lot of extra nurse, doctors and additional beds.  Or, another big issue in the UK is the lack of social care that means beds get blocked by patients who could leave hospital if they could get a bit of extra help.

 

Really brings one of the reasons for the NHS mess into focus.
