What makes you believe that most of the value is in China? Most of the value is in the intellectual property and the most valuable chips which are not manufactured in China.

Even if we assume that there can be some accurate measurement  of what part of the "value" of a product or service is added in China or in any other country, we can also be sure that Apple Computer will do whatever is in its power to weasel out of paying taxes however it can.  Anyway, it's all a great game, and so long as large multinational corporations operate in the international arena, reaching any. kind of consensus or agreement as to tax rates will be problematic.  The issues are political and economic.  It's not just an accounting problem.

I have to give Trump credit if his administration actually follows through on this.  While The Telegraph puts a negative spin on this in their headline, actually it's long overdue.

On this one, we agree.  Unless there is a worldwide minimum tax agreement, raising the US corporate income tax rate in the USA will only create work for Int'l tax attorneys as the corporations offshore their profits.

Edit:  Or there need to be other consequences when US companies shift their profit outside the USA by IP and transfer pricing shenanigans.  I've worked for a few companies that had shell corporations in low tax countries to which we shifted our taxable income.  It's amazing how complex it gets.  And it gets even dodgier when the shareholders in the different entities aren't the same, shafting the little guy shareholders, too.

Google "Double Irish Dutch Sandwich" to understand this Tax evasion by big tech companies and world famous artists like U2, AC/DC and The Rolling Stones. Trump is right, All companies and artists involved are stealing from the countries where they make there money.

Or you could jusr eliminate corporate income taxes on corporations that maintain there operations in the US and keep all the jobs and money in the US.

The people that buy the product or service pay the tax. The CEO and shareholders don’t take the hit.

And one could just as easily argue that the government is stealing from them.

Some semiconductors and a few random bits are produced in Taiwan Province and Souf' Korea, shipped to China where the world's factory produces most of the device components, assembles them, packages them.

Then shipped to America for consumption.

Only thing Americaland provides any more is the label, and extraterritorial taxation.

You are forgetting about the software that runs the device.  The software is by far the most valuable part of an iphone and without it all those chinese parts would be worthless.

That's the issue. There is international consensus and an agreement, but trump has pulled out of that because Tim Cook kissed his behind.

Keep up to date. There is no double Irish Dutch sandwhich any more.

The EU has forbidden it in 2015 and Ireland had to  change its laws. Apple also has to pay back 5 years worth of taxes.

The Tax evasion scheme still exists. That's why mayor companies and artists are still legally based in the Netherlands to avoid high taxes in there native countries.

Read my post. I never claimed there is no tax evasion, just that the double sandwich is over.
