John Drake Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago 18 hours ago, Celsius said: Here we go. If you supported Trump like I did, it doesn't mean every one of his policies is correct. I am all for self harming and self annahilling as Canada deserves it having such a stupid liberal government, but you Yanks are shooting yourselves in the foot. Canadian oil IS cheap and Canadian hydro IS cheap. The next generation of Canadians will not be the idiots and will take the business elsewhere. It may take time, but it will be done. I didn't support Trump. I do support targeted tariffs. And I had hoped that Trump's focus would be on China as well as some scoundrels in SE Asia. Frankly, I don't know about the Canadian situation to comment there (btw how are you going to export hydro "elsewhere?" Oil and ng maybe but the US is self sufficient in those latter two). I do understand taking action against Mexico, albeit I like Mexicans and Mexico, because successive governments there have not only encouraged violation of the US border but they've made their country a transit highway for everyone else from Central and South America. The cartels are another matter and need to be tracked down and eliminated.

Hummin Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago So 25 percent taxation is quite normal world wide in socialist countries, but it is us, the consumers who pays the price. The comedy here, only 10% on Chinese goods. Magas still defending their leader, even it is themselves who is the ones who paying the price. Doesnt get more ironic than that. Monthy Python comes to mind, or is it something im missing? Canada enforce the same, Mexico as well, China can live with 10% only, since they will have to deliver more to Americans they useally got from their Neighbors. Europe get better deals. A the same time Don using houndreds of millions to depot immigrants where many of those actually work, and er decent citizens, and now Americans lack employees, becaus they do the dirty work Americans are to lazy to do themselves 1

IIRC American debt to China is $900 billion. China produces 95% of the world's rare earths. An embargo on export would cripple production of TV's, electric cars... you name it. China imports a lot of food from the USA. $36 billion in 2022. If China goes shopping elsewhere for its food, where does that leave American farmers? In Trump's first term, his trade war with China cost American farmers dearly. Obviously he is incapable of learning from history. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over, and expecting a different result.

Im an American Taxpayer, unlike most of the screeching haters posting. You think applying tariffs will slow down fentanyl smuggling and illegal migrant crossings? How about the US taking action to stop illegal crossings from US to Canada? US stopping illegal fentanyl consumption in the US etc etc etc - trump's a moron. Example stats... Canada has been experiencing an influx of individuals crossing the Canada-United States border between ports of entry https://www.irb-cisr.gc.ca/en/statistics/Pages/Irregular-border-crosser-statistics.aspx 1

Put very simply economics is about supply and demand it’s about what you have available and what people want. Something high in demand but low in supply prices high or rising prices, on the other hand something high in supply but low in demand prices low or falling. Or prices too high - demand falls whereas lower prices can lead to higher demand. As countries respond to Trumps tariffs by imposing their own tariffs on American goods making American goods more expensive demand will fall consumers will simply buy from other suppliers from other countries. Result unless American supplier can sell more domestically it could possibly lead to the supplier downsizing or even going out of business resulting in more unemployment. More unemployment leads to less demand domestically combined with less exports could possibly lead to a recession. Any goods made in America using components from other countries subject to tariffs will also be more expensive even in America.
