I try not to post on AN staff news-blip postings now, as can't tell which are sponsored or what I'm allowed to post. Another was about PKK, and I disagreed in a negative manner with the OP, and that definitely was a sponsored vid. Can't be shining a bad light if they want people to come somewhere. Oops. What happened, to whom it happened, the way something was written, who posted it, etc. Exactly. A "confused" emoji might mean "I don't understand what you're trying to say", or "I don't understand why you're saying it", or "I don't understand why the people you wrote about did what they did", or any number of other things. 3 1

Or a clear response from a member about nothing controversial is greeted with a confused emoji I would like to think most are mistakes but happen so often I'm not so sure Well, it has to do with anonymity, but also hate, bullying, harassment. Also with cowardness. All those 'somebody" here on AN are cowards for me, not disclose their AN nickname. So you can't reply to their idioxxx emoji replies. To stop emojis would put conversations on a higher and more constructive level I think. 3 1

There is a row of trees in front of our house frequently visited by lots of birds. By the time I get the camera organised the've departed. The only thing I get are squirrels jumping from tree to tree. 1
digger70 Posted February 3 Posted February 3 Emoji use . I would say the persons that use the Emoji Sad /Confused All the time for a reply that doesn't suit that Emoji . They are Troubled Persons or/and have trouble with the Language. 2 1 1
Popular Post Kinnock Posted February 3 Popular Post Posted February 3 As an occasional user of 'confused' and 'laughing' emojis I think either can be an appropriate response to some of the drivel posted here. Some posts are so odd they leave me confused, so get a well-deserved confused emoji .... if we were having a group chat in a bar I'd be wearing the 'WTF are you talking about' expression - but may not think such a daft comment is worthy of a spoken response. Other times a reply to a post can be so ridiculous, it's funny .... most the US political 'debates' fall into this category. I also can't resist a confused emoji when some gets upset about confused emojis .... 1 1 3

I really do agree with that (so I gave you a "like" 😎) - I usually think about my reactions before posting and only post what I'd say to someone's face or that which is attributable - maybe others do not. But seriously, the various people who've posted that "it really doesn't matter" or "it's just a forum" are correct. If that's all you have to worry about - well done you! I'd still like to see the posters identified though..... 🙄😉 1

Once upon a time, when the earth was green and unicorns roamed wild, AN (or TV as was) had a full set of reaction emojis and the names of who posted them appeared to members. Then certain members started "emoji stalking" other members (adding negative reactions to many posts), this, of course, led to the victims returning the favour. It actually got quite nasty! We reduced the emoji set to only the "positive" ones, members complained. We removed all the reaction emojis, members complained. There may have been some other iterations too (age is setting in and it was a while back - I think the whole trail is in the Support forum somewhere). Finally, we settled on a pretty full emoji set but anonymous to members (hence the "Somebody" moniker). Members still complain, but the instances of emoji-stalking do seem to be well down. Staff can still see who posted emojis, so if you think you are being stalked hit the Report button on one of the posts and tell us. "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
