Is this the same fat guy who, on the forum, reportedly evacuated his bowels on a public street, and then went skinny-dipping in the temple pool next-door? I always wondered what had become of him. And now, here he is, not just once, but twice if you count the first time he showed up in prison, in last week's story. Probably the same guy, and he never seems to move, either. He remains chained to the prison bars in perpetuity. Wish we knew his name so that we could learn more about him, and how he ended up where he is now.
Merrill Posted February 3 Posted February 3 This happens, for every one case in the news there are many others that don't hit the headlines. I have travelled to Thailand since 1995 and had a few events but this took the cake in my wife's home town Sakon Nakhon Isan. One day in town looking for a dentist to get some new dentures. Rather than explain here what happened I will share the link as the only way to stop this event was the website. The RTP were of no use they were scared of the lady dentist as they all had a section M65 or whatever they called it against them, many in town we were told later knew of her antics and that she had the power and was nuts. I had my Thai lawyer and the backing of a rich Thai family but this was no match for her she wanted big money from me as she had got in the past from similar accusations on Thai people. All the police about 6 of them in the Sakon office had a case against them for one or another reason ( Not prosecuting people) and would not touch the case for simple fear of her. So we had to wait a week or so for a new office to the area to deal with our case. They just had to do what she ordered and they harassed the family in the village calling my wife and even attempting to stop us from flying back to the UK. Even in the UK, it did not stop the family was harassed till I built the site and wrote to the Dental Association BKK. i-have.info/on/thaidentist
Popular Post Evil Penevil Posted February 3 Popular Post Posted February 3 Just to keep all the victimized British tourists in a row- The Jan. 20th story in the Daily Mail concerned a 29-year-old man who'd been locked up over 'a few days''' overstay. He can managed to smuggle in a cell phone that he used to capture the images that illustrated both stories. He photographed the 55-year-old, 300-lb guy lying in the cell. The heavy guy also contacted the Daily Mail and they ran his story of abuse and theft. Even his flipflops were stolen! I have to agree both stories have significant holes and a lot has been left out. Here's an example of how the Daily Mail has been forced to backtrack on yet another recent Thailand atrocity story. From Feb. 3: British businesswoman who said she was unfairly locked up in a Thai jail after 'confronting a client' is 'seen on CCTV with fellow Brit who threatens to "f**k up" a man in his home while pinning him down' https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14354435/British-businesswoman-said-unfairly-locked-Thai-jail-confronting-client-seen-CCTV-fellow-Brit-threatens-f-k-man-home-pinning-down.html This is the original story on Jan. 26, 2025: I was locked up in a hellhole Thai jail after a row at WORK... I had to bribe a guard to get wet wipes - now I'm facing a 20 year sentence https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14317785/I-locked-hellhole-Thai-jail-row-WORK-bribe-guard-wet-wipes-Im-facing-20-year-sentence.html There were, indeed, some important facts left out of the earlier story! 2 2
Popular Post RayL Posted February 3 Popular Post Posted February 3 Seems hard tobeleive. I was recently in Thai for months. The x husband of the woman I was seeing hit heron the side of the head - prompley knocked him out -I am x Army..... Later he came to the house and kicked the front door in. I told her to call the police while I blocked his entry. The police were very understang and thanked me for protecting a thai woman. They arrested him and gave him an exclusion order. Moral of story, be nice to them, folllow their culture and they will shake your hand 1 3
granuaile Posted February 3 Posted February 3 I lived in Thailand for 10 years, visited several times before moving there, and never had problems (admittedly I only ever spent one night in Pattaya, Chiang Mai was more to my liking). I guess it does happen, but he must have really had some bad luck. Worse thing that ever happened to me was taxi drivers overcharging. Once I learned the buses, I had an alternative to that... Ohhh and the dual pricing at tourist attractions, though not in my neighborhood (Ladphrao Rd)

Totally agree with you, but this episode with this guy is really way out there. If it happened the way he said, he must have really upset someone! I believe something has been missed out of this story! 1

Can you explain that a bit more please? 2 articles recently posted on AN are both: a) detrimental to Thai tourism and the public image of Thai law enforcement b) of questionable veracity because they're using the exact same photos to depict 2 different cases. IMO, that opens AN up to liability for falsely harming Thai tourism.

I have some respect for you because of your post count, but in recent months AN has improved a lot, especially with a lot of good information for us expats. I do not believe that the "king" or any Admins would be responsible for the mix up with the photo's.

What matters is the Powers That Be in LOS. My post wasn't a slam of AN. I fear they could be liable for the lunacy coming from The Mail (and other sources) because they do curate their content, and select what they include.
Sinsot Posted February 4 Posted February 4 There is no way that guy on the floor in the photo is 137kg. That's the body of a 150kg plus person.

snowgard Posted February 5 Posted February 5 It reads like a tall tale from a drunk Brit. He is 1,000% a completely innocent person!!! Hahaha... But when I read his story, I understand it like this: 1. He comes to Thailand and starts drinking and does what many Brits do and shows bad behavior. 2. In the evening he goes out and drinks even more alcohol. Drinks all his money and destroys an entrance sign on the way home. 3. When he tries to escape, he is stopped by security guards and then arrested by the police for his aggressive behavior. 4. He was completely drunk and aggressive and was then locked in a cell to sober up and was released hours later after paying a fine and compensation. 5. On the way back to the AirBnB he drank alcohol again and arrived there completely drunk again. 6. His AirBnB then kicked him out because of his bad and aggressive behavior. 7. He then reacted even more aggressively and threatened the employees there. 8. While packing his suitcase, he forgot some of his belongings while drunk. Maybe in his room or maybe in a bar. 9. He then again threatened the staff aggressively, who then called the police and arrested him again. 10. Because he continued to behave aggressively at the police station while drunk, he was handcuffed to the bars for the safety of the other people in the cell. 11. At last no one took his ATM away because without PIN you can't take money out. Also how him paid another room and the ticket back to UK? It's a real crazy story. I dont know I'm right or wrong, But I'm sure him known ítself at best how it was in real.

wozzlegummich Posted February 5 Posted February 5 There is two sides to this story. One of appalling behaviour and another of appalling corruption. Where there's smoke - there's fire. And why would the police put so much effort into proving his story wrong? There's plenty of stories around about people being marched to the ATM to sort out their arrest issue. When they realised how pissed this fine specimen of a man was they thought he would be easy pickings.
radiochaser Posted February 12 Posted February 12 This could be off topic, unless the situation involves police jail/detention. I flew into Thailand arriving Monday, February 10, flying in on my connection at Heathrow, UK. Across the aisle from me sat a man who had a very close timed connection to Vietnam. As the aircraft was pulling into the gate, an announcement was made, telling all passengers to remain seated until security boarded the aircraft. One of the stewardess's came to tell the man going to Vietnam that security was needed for a man who hit another passenger. Once parked and the door opened, about 10 police (airport police, dark uniforms?) and and some airport security (blue shirts) boarded and walked back to the economy section. I could see a guy in his late 40's or early 50's stand up in the aisle, take his carryon out of the overhead, and then was then escorted out of the aircraft. Not a very good start to a trip to Thailand, if a tourist, or possibly the beginning of a bad end to residence in Thailand if an expat living here. I have been flying off and on since 1961. This is the first time I have witnessed police board an aircraft. 1

balo Posted February 12 Posted February 12 I don't believe this story for a second. But I believe he was drunk , he probably claimed he was robbed so he can get money from the insurance.
