Since my first registration, I have moved to different states and had to re-register, but doing that was not a problem. I don't think there has been a presidential election that I did not vote in. But, I was born in the USA, am a White male, always gainfully employed with a "permanent" address. Many that are not registered do not fit all those categories. Still, if they are a US citizen, they should, IMO, be allowed to register and vote. As I said before, I am now registered to vote in California at my last address there, now one of my daughters' address. I was easily able to request a mail-in ballot. It was sent to me by email as a .pdf. I had to print it, fill it out, sign it, and then return a photocopy of the ballot. I was notified that my ballot was received about an hour after I sent it and then notified that it was accepted the next day. But I still believe that meeting all the registration qualifications and finding a convenient way and place to vote might be difficult for some, maybe many, in the USA, especially in "Red" states. In any event, Trump won the election, so we'll just have to live with that for the next four years. 🥹 What elections did you get to vote for in 1963? The 26th amendment giving 18-year-olds the right to vote was ratified in 1971, 53 years ago.

Don't know why people imply it's difficult for some people to vote. Everyone has that right, to vote, simply have to exercise it. Really is too simple. If can't make it to the registry office, they will come to you, one way or another. That it's difficult to vote, is a false narrative IMHO. I only voted on local level, in hometown when living there, as those elections are basically the only ones that would directly affect me. Learned a long time ago, state and US politicians (lying scum) usually say anything to get elected, and do anything after elected, so I never bothered.

What I was getting at was I registered to vote as soon as I was eligible. 1

How voter registration rules discourage some Americans from voting Sorry! I'm trying to paste a link, but when I do, the link disappears. How do you paste a link? Things have changed recently.

I google that, and I'm not seeing anything restrictive of preventative from voting. Some folks, like convicted felons, need to do a bit more paperwork, in some states.
Yellowtail Posted February 6 Posted February 6 From what I've seen, the biggest deterrent from registering in Southern California, was that they used the voter rolls for jury duty.

When did that change on Forums? yea ... sometimes they work, sometimes not. Haven't figure out how to tell the difference. Sometimes, after you enter the link, and hit enter/return, then it sets as a clickable link. Happens a lot with YT or FB shorts, sometimes opens, or not. 1 1

Get out of the way or get with the health revolution. That is simply a disgraceful decision to put a far right loony in charge of the Department of Health and Human Services, especially after his anti-vaccine rants, amongst other nonsense quotes and as for the "health revolution" in this post, well, the health of everyone from newborns, to children to adults will be adversely affected, sad to say. And this is a good article which I came across this morning: – The Senate has just confirmed as Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, a science denialist who once said there is no vaccine that is safe and effective, who has suggested that Covid might have been genetically engineered to spare Jewish and Chinese people and who spent more than 100 pages in his recent book breathing new life into the idea that HIV does not cause Aids. All of this is nonsense, of course, but hardly a laughing matter. I am afraid for our country because I know what happens when science denialism comes into power. He was previously an environmental lawyer who sued chemical giant Monsanto and accused climate-change deniers of being traitors. But he has spent much of the past two decades touting conspiracy theories from linking childhood vaccines to autism and suggesting the Covid virus spared Ashkenazi Jews and Chinese people, to casting doubt on whether germs cause infectious diseases. How much more nonsense and stupidity will the GOP be responsible for.........all just to please the orange buffoon? https://www.nzherald.co.nz/world/when-just-asking-questions-about-science-turns-into-300000-dead-gregg-gonsalves/QZAR4W 1 1
