A 25-year-old Myanmar construction worker was injured on the morning of 5 February, after falling from a scaffold while working on a hotel renovation in Pattaya. The incident occurred at around 11:00 at a hotel located in Arunothai Soi 7, Pattaya, Chonburi.

Emergency services from the Sawang Boriboon Pattaya Foundation were alerted to the incident and immediately dispatched a rescue team to the scene. Upon arrival, responders found the worker, identified as Mr. Ith, suffering from injuries after falling approximately 8 metres from the scaffold. He had plunged through the overhanging canopy of the building.

The incident is believed to have been caused by a combination of factors, including the use of bamboo scaffolding, which is prone to slipping. Additionally, paint splatters from the worker’s, may have made the surface even more slippery. The worker had been applying paint on the third floor of the hotel, which is undergoing a major renovation.

Mr. Ith sustained injuries to his back and head from the fall, though he was fortunate to avoid further injury from surrounding construction materials such as metal fencing and equipment.

His colleagues, including other workers and a supervisor, were quick to respond and provide immediate assistance. Emergency responders from the rescue team also administered first aid on-site before transporting him to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

The incident is under investigation by the authorities.
