Transfer Visa Stamps and Entry Stamps to New Passport

I received my 12 month 'extension of stay' at Chaeng Wattana  in mid December 2024.

 

I have just obtained a new UK passport - excellent service 2 week turnaround Bangkok/UK/Bangkok.

 

Yesterday, I went to CW to get my 'stamps' transferred to my new passport.

 

On the reverse side of the application form, there is a list of 8 documents you may need to provide. In my case it was a copy of the photo page of the old and the new passports, a copy of my original Non O visa, a copy of my last entry into Thailand and the TM 6, and a copy of my December 2024 extension of stay.

 

The lady official was extremely friendly but asked me to update my bank passbook. I went downstairs to K Bank and updated my passbook in the machine.

 

Everything was good.

 

I was then called to the booth to see a 'poochai' who told me, in robust terms lol, I had to provide a 'statement'. I explained that I had just updated my passbook but was sternly told that I had to provide a paper 'statement'. Jai yen, sabai, sabai ... 🙂

 

95 minutes later I returned to the booth with the 'statement'  and just before the lunch break my passports were returned.

 

Are all requests at CW/elsewhere now requiring balance statements, or was my experience just a one - off?

For transfer of stamps CW now require proof of financial compliance.

This is a new requirement and possibly CW specific.

Also not shown on form you mentioned. 

The io should have accepted photocopies of bank book pages along with update. 

By "poochai" (man) do you mean head io sits to rear of L32? 

In any event good you got the deal done.

Thanks for the report.  I can't answer your question as my Extension is based on working not retirement.  But, as I will need to do this soon, could you let me know how long the wait was from getting your queue number to being seen by the officer?  I understand that you can't make an appointment for this service, which is annoying!

Oh dear another worry for those using an agent who will not be able to update the bank book!

It is annoying. You will obtain que ticket and be dealing with L desks.

The bank book and update relates to extension retirement.

The thread is not a happy read however my experience for transfer was not difficult apart that I was not aware of new bank book requirement.

 

Aside: no luck transferring at Rayong?

Not really. There is no urgency to transfer stamps and could leave it till next extension where agent presumably will obtain next extension+ transfer.

I haven't tried Rayong yet, as need to take my son out of school for a morning (2 days if we need to go to CW!).

 

I will be using Section N2 at CW, which I fear will be more congested than L!

I was seen at L35. The 'poochai' had a desk at the rear of this booth. You learn to 'bite your tongue' and go with the flow. Let's hope they do not introduce this for 90 day reporting.

 

You are correct, the reverse side of the application form makes no mention of providing  bank balances since the date of your last extension.

I waited for around 30 minutes. Correct, you cannot book this service online. I arrived at CW at 07:30.

That won't happen and keep in mind 90 day reports can be done online and via mail

Best 1,000 baht i ever spent was having a agent do the transfers from old passport to new passport, even thou the Old passports 1 year extension, was in a different province than my New 1 year extension where the transfer was made  🙂

I've transferred stamps at Jomtien twice now. Last one being in 2020.
Filled out the one form, handed it in with my new and old passports.
Came back the next day to pick them up.
No charge (that I can remember), no hassle.
I don't even recall having to make any photocopies of anything.

I do remember it being quite a simple process which was nice as I thought it might be a hassle.

And definitely did not have to show an updated bank book. 

They could have been checking to see if you still qualified for whatever Extension you were/are on ?

I did my transfers last Feb (2024) in CM and didn't need any bank statement or passboolk statement or oher paper statement., only the transfer of visas form from immigration.

It is relatively new and CW specific

That's interesting.  I thought that the passport holder had to be present.  Was this in Phuket?  Can you let me have the agent's details (PM if necessary).  Thanks

I had a odd situation.

My extension was issued in a US Emergency Passport ( 1 year ).  Officer transfered the TM's to Emergency PP

2 days after retirement extension was issued, got the phone call that my US 10 year was available. Picked it up, Emergency PP voided.

 

Immigration Office told me to bring the 3 passports to the transfer.

 

Told the officer who did the transfer I had all 3. The officer checked all 3,  changed the date on his stamp to the date that was in the Emergency PP extension,  transfered the TM's to new PP, was done in 15 minutes.

 

EVERY office is DIFFERENT, check what YOUR LOCAL OFFICE POLICY IS, then no problems.

As I posted earlier...CW now checking bank book for stamp transfer.

You had to copy a TM6 entry card? How come when they stopped using them years ago? I don't have one anymore as the last one was removed by immigration some tome ago.

Not required. However still listed as a requirement on various forms such on one for transfer of stamps. Ignore. 

Note TM6 still used at some land border entries
