It would be an idea to get your thinking straight before you embark on this road.

You say “Have applied for Irish visa for future thai wife” and then ask “before i start filling out visa forms how to deal with this” …and then say “I have also applied for a non imigrant visa”

A bit of a Peter Pan about this!

Take the time the Irish State (not the church) imposes on you to get your thinking straight.

In answer

Have requested visa applications from consulate for Thai girlfriend to visit me in Ireland.

Have also requested forms for non-immigrant visa from Thai embassy in London, as we do not have a Thai embassy in Ireland. For myself my intention is to do some business in Thailand.

Now who canvassed the government when all this legislation was passed for a 4-year separation before divorce the church? http://indigo.ie/~kwood/divorce.htm

I stand corrected 12call. I took that original address from a Thai Government reference book. Alas, I grabbed the 2001 book by mistake. Your correction will enable Paddy to save on postages to and from London :o

Re visa for Thai national to visit Ireland. The big concern from the Irish authorities side is that she will over stay her visa. So you will need to show proof that she has good reason to go back to Thailand. All information you supply should reinforce the fact that she will be going back. ie. Information about her work, about her family (children) money in the bank, etc.

Be prepared to wait and be frustrated by the system, I was told that the majority of visas are refused first time around, but you can appeal by supplying additional information.

Re. Church and State. The fact that we now have divorce in Ireland is proof that church and state are separate. In the eyes of the Catholic Church you can never divorce, no matter what the state says.

I think of the 4 years as a way of slowing me and others down from making the same mistakes. You won’t be in a hurry to rush in if it takes a minimum of 4 years and half your assets to get out.
