Parking should be eliminated on both sides of the road and wider sidewalks constructed, with shade trees.

How about banning private cars parking  on roads in Bang Lamung

Except handicap signed, delivery trucks, songteaw and taxi.

Or just do as every Major city in the world...

Put up parking cost, hire 1000 people to enforce it.

20 min parking=10 baht, parking fine 500 baht.

Pretty easy with a parking app, Thais love their apps.

The tourist added that the 1.5-metre-wide pit had a raised edge that sent him sprawling. According to locals, the hazard has been a lurking danger for years.

However, the many locals living there have never had the inclination, nor foresight, to put up something to warn people, a couple of old paint buckets with sticks, and ropes. Would not take much.

Thailand as a whole just does not grasp the concept of footpaths, Signs, light posts, low hanging awnings, tyre repair shops, motor bike repair shops, flower pots, broken drain covers, exposed electric cables, low hanging electric cables, used to have telephone boxes in the middle of the footpaths - now just the bolts remain sticking up 555!!

When I venture out from my home, I take the attitude that Thais are trying to end my life, actively with horrendous driving, 2 or 4 wheels, each with own death bite; or more passively as in this case: holes, trip mechanisms (concrete or wrought iron), head bonkers, electrical wiring surprises, things falling from the skies.. Seems to work

I have nearly hurt myself in all locations in Thailand from holes in the footpaths, but I found walking around Tachilek 10 times worse, there is a corner in Huahin down by the wet market that has loose tiles that squish up water if it's been raining, they've been like this ever since I came here in 2003

Why do you keep standing on it then?

Bangkok is just the same.

Always look down while walking. Holes, broken tiles, dogs' mess. Not fun in the evening during rainy season.

And as for crossing the road .....

He's now learnt that you have to look at the ground always, along with everywhere else

I learned that when I was a kid in rattlesnake country

This is one of the things I really hate about Thailand. That you can't wander along 2 or 3 abreast with a couple of friends, enjoying the scenery and watching what's going on around you. You can rarely walk even 2 abreast, and either way have to keep your eyes firmly a few meters on the 'sidewalk' ahead.

It's become so ingrained in me now that back home I deliberately avoid manhole covers, drains and grills - I just don't trust them any more.

The drunken tourists are the problem.

That said, walking down Klang yesterday, I got an impression someone had been out patching up some of the longstanding traps. They get to things eventually I suppose!

Pattaya is one big trip hazard! So many changes of levels on the streets. Some of the steps up to the shops are quite high. Cables and pipes across the walk, and remains of old fittings left to trip over.

You could widen that to not only Pattaya... it's like this all over the entire country.

Sorry mate, just trying to make you laugh.

This forum is so full of toxic social media types, looking for a reason to exist by whining and griping about nearly everything under the sun, you might need to help people realize you meant to be funnily sarcastic by adding a smiley emoji. But even then, some people are either so ultra-sensitive or ultra toxic, they still might not get it.... Good try though! I, for one, enjoy that kind of friendly, non-toxic sarcasm🍻😊
