You have not though this through, nor have you addressed the central issue of why it is the USA's sole obligation to care for people in a far off region, a region which  does not support the USA's national interests.

 

The US government is there to act  in the best interest of its citizens. Currently, the USA has a massive deficit. It also has  a financial obligation to its own citizens. In order to maintain the generous social assistance network in the USA, it has to be funded. The USA can't keep borrowing to fund its social services disbursements.  

 

You are free to criticize the USA. Good for you. Now please direct your anger at your own nation and region and demand that it   pay more for people who don't care about you.  Thailand has its nose up China's backside. Now it can ask China to  provide the vast sums of  foreign aid that the USA, Japan and other western nations provide. The USA was at its breaking point. It can't keep giving, because it doesn't have the money to give. The small group of taxpayers who pay for much of this spending don't want to fund it anymore. They want the money to go to repairing collapsing infrastructure  and poorvpeople in the USA.

True, the US should have had health care that is available to everyone, paid for by taxes, instead of giving US money to other countries. Trump might be a weirdo, but he's definitely American gung ho. Hopefully this gung ho attitude doesn't backfire, as the US, like all other countries in Nato, needs other countries for many things, as they also need us.

I have to agree that closing hospitals where poor people are sick is the right decision by a country which does not want to be a part of global society. 

It isn't fair to ask the rich to help the poor. Let them eat cake. 

As for those who cross the border to get cheap health care, let their own countrymen pay for them even though they can't afford it.

Why care for the sick and poor abroad while rich countries already have a lot of sick and poor, which they have no intention to help?

Trump has made a terrible mistake by cutting off all foreign aid to these small charities that aid poor refugees. Chances are he does not lose one moment of sleep over the death and starvation of people too poor to feed themselves. The man has zero compassion, zero empathy, and I seriously question if he even possesses a soul.
