An incident in Kamphaeng Phet province has claimed the life of a 15-year-old boy from Phetchaburi after he was sucked into a sugarcane harvester while working in a plantation.

The incident occurred at approximately 14:30 on February 11, when officers from Lan Krabue Police Station were alerted to the fatal accident. The boy, identified as Anusorn Kalawicha, had been working as a labourer at a sugarcane farm in Moo 3, Ban Jantima, Jantima sub-district, Lan Krabue district, Kamphaeng Phet.

According to initial reports, Anusorn had been resting in a furrow between the sugarcane rows when the harvester reached his location. Due to the dense vegetation, it is believed that no one noticed him lying there. He was pulled into the machine along with the sugarcane and subsequently ejected onto a ten-wheeled Hino truck, which was collecting the harvested stalks. He died instantly from the severe injuries sustained.

Emergency responders, including police investigators, medical personnel, and volunteers from the Kamphaeng Phet News Image Rescue Association, arrived at the scene. They found the large red sugarcane harvester parked near the loaded lorry, which was nearly full of chopped cane. Anusorn’s body was discovered among the cut sugarcane at the rear of the truck.

Authorities have stated that all involved parties will be questioned to determine the exact circumstances of the incident. Meanwhile, Anusorn’s body has been taken to Wat Jantima, where funeral rites are being held.
