Be Real

The Head count is of course credible.

Not difficult about tally and adding all the arrival numbers.

The Baht count is doubtful.

Agenda hidden and Thai-Bashing foreigners are thinking otherwise.

Yeah, if this is true, we have to factor with that it has been a long cold season, which means prolonged high season. The numbers will go down. Even if not, they will fall about half trillion lower than expected. Based on former years overestimations, I will guess they will fall about 800 billion to 1 trillion short at years end. But they will have more tourism regarding amount of visitors than ever. That also means they are having the wrong focus and get people who spend less than visitors before.

Yeah, it would be amazing if every visitor has been spending almost 49 000 baht. 😂

Again,  baht count is doubtful.   Did I just type this sentence seconds ago.

All common sense that there is no way to calculate the Baht.

What do you mean? What are you on about? I just agreed with you.

After that, there is no hidden agenda. It stands totally clear that everything they try to shine a fake light on about Thai economy, is just for trying to pump up the baht as usual.

Well done TAT. Outstanding.

Quite amusing that Japan, having only a grudging interest in attracting tourists has overtaken Thailand's annual visitor figures already.

They even attracted more Chinese for Golden Week than Thailand, despite the wintery/cold weather in many areas.

Difficult one, can't say less Chinese tours in Thailand is a loss but I also like visiting Japan...

Thailand's tourism sector is thriving, with 4.8 million international visitors entering the country from January to February 9th this year, according to Tourism and Sports Minister Sorawong Thienthong. This bustling travel scene has significantly boosted the economy, contributing an impressive 234.9 billion baht in revenue during this period.

It's always about numbers never quality...TAT think more is better...

One day they will wake up and learn it's not.

What I do believe is  In 26 years I've never seen such a drop in the class of tourists to Thailand

Elaborate ?  The higher class visitors are not so visible. Like the 5 star enclave in Wongamat. But what do you expect in the main parts of the Pattaya infrastructure sh*tshow. The city /country gets billions baht tourists revenue. But the citi cannot even build flyovers and pedestrian overpasses. Both of which would be solutions to current news topics.

Ah, Tat stats... first, halve the number, because tourists, both international, and locals, are counted entering and leaving, on top of that if moving from hotel to hotel, you get counted again.

I believe the figures. It feels like an additional 4.8m people have been idly standing around blocking my way this year😤

Haha what a load of rubbish. The figures are broken down by country and I can assure you Thais are not counted. As for moving hotels, what on earth are you smoking !!

Mate, I think most agree with me. As for hotels, I am sure, some time age, the TM30 form is also counted towards the number of tourists.

The numbers are true.

What is more misleading is that these are cheap tourists from cheap countries with low GDP's.

Despite China's power in the world, the average GDP per person is still very low. India's GDP per person is even lower than Thailands.

The Chinese numbers are still 50% lower than pre-Covid so it is not them driving the tourist numbers. You are conveniently ignoring the fact that tourism from Western countries is back to pre-Covid numbers and in some cases now exceeding Pre-Covid. India may well have a lower GDP than Thailand, but just like poor Thais from the boonies aren't likely to holiday abroad so it is with Indians. You need to lose your blinkered racism.

Anyone agreeing with you clearly hasn't done their research.

Numbers counted from immigration entries, not hotel chack ins.

Nothing to do with racism.

It's to do with managing your countries ability to absorb so many tourists. Thailand's infrustructure cannot cope, and allowing so many people to enter at one time (especially during peak seasons) dilutes local culture to the point it is erased. Throw into that people staying here longer and you are effectively over powering Thailand and it's people.

I do understand Thailand wanting to have diplomatic ties to China, and allowing visa free access - but the cost is a huge implosing in crime. The one that makes no sense is the visa removal for India. India does not even let Thai people enter their country without a visa.

How can essentially all of Africa require Indians to have a visa, but in Thailand they can just walk in ? That's how crazy it is, no one else has such a generous visa policy as Thailand, and it is this that is creating the chaos.

It would be the most logical way of doing it no? How else would they get the figures?

Why not simply say you have no proof. As for logic, this is Thailand, and TAT, were figures are rubbery.

"35.5 million tourists next year."   How about 2025, this year?    AI writer seems to have a problem with time, recently referring to Trump several times as the 'former president' and, now, apparently still thinking it is 2024.
