Siemens front load washer repair

Featured Replies

According to https://www.siemens-home.bsh-group.in.th Siemens stopped selling appliances in Thailand in 2018 but they still offer repairs throughout Thailand. We bought a nice Siemens front load washer floor model from Powerbuy in 2018 and we were aware that it was a discontinued model but we were not aware that Siemens was leaving Thailand. However, with the huge discount we figured it was worth it even if we had to toss the washer after a few years.

Now it just shows an error code and I suspect it needs some minor repair like replacing the motherboard/keypad. We could easily buy a new washer but I really like the features on this Siemens model. I have spoken with the people at the Siemens Bangkok number for service shown in the link provided above and they have assured me that we can get a service call in Chiang Mai for a fee of 1300 Baht. However, it has been over a week now and no call from them. I did remind them after one week that we are still waiting for them to call us to set an appointment for the service call.

Does anyone know of any appliance repair shops that can service Siemens appliances here in Chiang Mai? We have tried the few repair shops in our Pa Daet area and nearby but none of them service Siemens appliances. Amorn used to have people that worked on Siemens appliances but they are no longer employed there. Also Powerbuy has no recommendations. Based on the link above it seems like parts for Siemens appliances are still available in Thailand.

E18 - drainage problem according to web searching but it drained fine on its last load. Now it shows E18 when trying to start a load and it just displays the error code and does nothing. There's no water in the drum so it doesn't make sense that it's trying to drain. That's why I thought maybe the motherboard/keypad had given up the ghost. However, on second thought, maybe the pump died and it does a self check before starting a load.

Have had similar on an LG and turned out a screw got stuck in the drainage impeller. That machine used to run through a cycle before doing a wash, too, and if the impeller was blocked it wouldn’t run. Have you had the filter out of it and had a look? The flap at the bottom. If it’s the same, pull that tube out and drain into a pan, unscrew filter cap and remove/clean filter, then have a gander at the little impeller. Obviously unplug machine before doing this.

Yes, I am aware that some brands sell rebadged Siemens or Bosch made appliances. When we spoke with Siemens in Bangkok to set up a service call we were expecting a call from Siam TV as we had thought that they were the local designated repair center. I made 3 calls to Bangkok and each time they said to expect a call. Maybe it is their local repair center that has dropped the ball. My wife did call Siam TV directly and they said no parts were available for our Siemens model.

We did remove the filter and there is nothing obvious blocking the pump impeller. I told my wife that there is always a chance that it can be repaired without needing any parts as in the case of something blocking the drainage path. In that case all we need is someone that knows what they are doing to take the machine apart and inspect it for obvious problems. Then possibly they could fix it without needing new parts or specifically Siemens parts. She spoke to different people at Amorn when she returned there and they agreed to take a look at it.

We have an old top loader washer downstairs that my daughter was going to throw out years ago. My wife has always used it for heavy duty bedding and curtains as our Siemens is only an 8 kg model. She's been stuck with it for the last couple of weeks but her only complaint is that the clothes are too wet when they come out and take too long to dry. It's funny but it seems like I am the only one that takes advantage of most of the Siemens washer features.

It’s good that you’ve already ruled out obvious blockages by checking the pump impeller. Sometimes, a thorough inspection can reveal something small that’s causing the malfunction, and it’s true that a skilled technician might be able to fix it without requiring new parts, especially if it’s something like a clogged drainage path.

As for your old top loader washer, I imagine it’s a bit of a hassle to rely on it, especially when it doesn’t do as good of a job wringing out the clothes as your Siemens. I can imagine it’s inconvenient, but at least it’s still functioning. Maybe after the repair, you’ll have your Siemens back to its optimal performance!

Quite a few well known European brands sold in Thailand seem to be real crap.

Guess they are made with lower standards and only require to pay the licence to the brand in the West to use their name.

Pity as it will end up in destroying their image in the west also as most of the foreigners in Thailand do have lot of contact back in Europe and the West and talk regularly on how good or how bad things can be in Thailand.

I would mention it on Facebook and show how it broke down so soon and how nobody can repair. Did it once in Europe in a similar situation. 3 days later by some divine miracle somebody contacted me from the company and Surprise!..suddenly they were prepared to repair it, provided I deleted of course my post. But avoid doing this when in Thailand due to the harsh laws that prevent from naming and shaming these unscrupulous brands. Have somebody abroad do it if you can.

Front load washers are junk as they tend to get moldy. If you want a solid washer then get an analog type Speed Queen top loader, dig around on the internet for something ten years old or older as those older machines are pretty much bulletproof without any of the digital buttons junk and will outlast a newer machine. The quality of the later speed queen models are good but not as good as the older ones.

Look  on YouTube for repair tips,I had a diode go faulty which cost nothing to repair,on a hot point machine
