Ang Thong Police Hunt for Suspects After Double Murder Rampage
Picture captured from CCTV Police in Ang Thong have launched a manhunt for Thanakorn Thipprathueang, known as “Pee,” and his accomplice, Nopadol Insiri, known as “Ped,” after they carried out a deadly shooting spree that left two victims dead. On the afternoon of 14th February, at approximately 16:10 police in Mueang Ang Thong received reports of a shooting in Moo 7, Ban It subdistrict. The victim, Phichakorn Boonchuay, 30, was shot multiple times in the torso and later died from his injuries at Ang Thong Hospital. His brother, Wathanyu Boonchuay, reported hearing five to six gunshots before finding his sibling bleeding. A friend identified Thanakorn Thipprathueang as the gunman. At 16:20 police received another alert of a shooting in Moo 3, Hua Phai subdistrict, where 70-year-old Decha Khaobao, a former military veteran, was found dead after being shot. Initially thought to have collapsed, Decha’s death was later determined to be a murder. Investigation revealed that Thanakorn, a resident of Hua Phai, was behind both killings. He first shot Decha, his step-uncle, before fleeing on a motorbike with his accomplice, Ped. The pair travelled over 10 kilometres to carry out the second murder of Phichakorn. Afterward, they escaped with their weapons and ammunition. Thanakorn’s mother, Chonlathicha Kansathit, 57, disclosed that her son has been struggling with a psychiatric condition and had been inconsistent with his medication, often feeling isolated and unloved. The two fugitives were captured during the afternoon of 15 February, following an intense manhunt. More than 50 police officers, including members of a special operations unit, surrounded a stilted wooden house in Wang Nam Yen, Sa-nga district, where the fugitives were hiding. Officers secured the area and, after a 15-minute operation, successfully detained the pair without resistance. During questioning, Thanakorn admitted to the killings, citing personal conflicts as the motive. He confessed to shooting Decha after repeated family disputes and later targeting Phichakorn due to tensions involving his younger sister. Authorities recovered a .45 calibre pistol, over 50 rounds of ammunition, and the motorcycle used in the crimes. A CCTV investigation also revealed that Ped had been involved in aiding Thanakorn’s escape. Ang Thong Police Chief, Major General Kitti Sakunee, stated that intelligence gathered from CCTV footage and witness testimonies helped track the suspects. It was also discovered that Ped had left the hideout to buy beer shortly before the arrest, leading officers to pinpoint their location. Both men have been charged with murder, illegal possession of firearms, and carrying weapons in public. They remain in police custody as investigations continue. -- 2025-02-16 -

Teen Motorbike Thief Flees into the Sea in Pattaya but Surrenders Due to Feeling Cold
Picture from responders. A 17-year-old boy, identified only as “Jack”, was arrested by Pattaya police after being caught attempting to steal a motorbike in the Pratumnak Soi 4 area. The suspect, who had been on a spree stealing motorbikes from various locations, was apprehended with the help of a vigilant local resident. Jack admitted to having successfully stolen two motorbikes before being caught. He revealed that he would ride around on a bicycle, targeting motorcycles left with keys in the ignition. Police investigators took him to the locations where he had hidden the stolen vehicles, recovering a black Honda Wave 110i without a licence plate and a grey-black Honda Wave 100 bearing the registration number from Bangkok. While officers were securing the stolen vehicles, Jack took advantage of a momentary lapse in attention and fled, sprinting towards the sea. As he was a juvenile, police had not handcuffed him, allowing him to make his escape. He waded into the water and swam further from the shore, ignoring police attempts to negotiate his surrender. Authorities assured him they would help if he returned, but he continued to drift further out to sea. However, after approximately 20 minutes, the temperature and exhaustion proved too much, and he voluntarily swam back to shore, where he was promptly taken into custody. “Polite” Thief Steals Gold Necklace for Valentine’s Gift in Samut Prakan

Police in Samut Prakan are hunting for a gold thief who gave a polite wai before robbing a gold shop, claiming he needed the jewellery as a Valentine’s Day gift for his girlfriend. The incident took place at a gold shop on Nam Daeng – Bang Phli Road, Bang Kaeo subdistrict, Bang Phli district. According to CCTV footage, the suspect, described as a stocky middle-aged man wearing a black jacket, black trousers, and a face mask, entered the shop barefoot around 14.00 on 14 February. He initially told the shop owner he wanted to exchange a gold necklace for a bracelet as a present for his girlfriend. However, after discussing prices, he left, only to return at 18.00 with a different approach. This time, he asked to see a 1.5-baht gold necklace, claiming his girlfriend would bring a 2-baht gold necklace to swap. As he engaged the shop owner in conversation, he grabbed her mobile phone before requesting the necklace and gave a wai apologetically, saying he was in desperate need. Shortly afterwards, he forced his way behind the shop counter, threatening an elderly shop assistant. The woman tried to calm him, but when the shop owner reached for a panic button, the suspect panicked. He ordered both women to move to the back of the shop before snatching a Wi-Fi router, mistakenly thinking it was the CCTV server. He then fled the scene on a black Honda PCX motorcycle. Ms. Kanoknapa, the shop owner, recalled that the suspect first came in during the afternoon, pretending to negotiate an exchange. He later returned, claiming his girlfriend was lost and requesting to see the gold necklace again. When he realised she was about to alert authorities, he panicked and stole the necklace, two gold-encased Buddha amulets, a mobile phone, and the shop’s Wi-Fi router. The elderly assistant, who was also targeted, stated that the suspect was polite at first but became aggressive once inside. “He told me he had no choice and begged me not to resist,” she said. “He pushed me aside before grabbing the valuables.” Pol. Maj. Gen. Wichit Boonchinwutkul, chief of Samut Prakan Provincial Police, confirmed that officers from Bang Kaeo Police Station are investigating. “The suspect acted alone and did not appear to be armed.” Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage to track the suspect and expect an arrest soon. Police have also issued a warning to gold shop owners, advising them to ask customers to remove face masks, install secure iron bars, and ensure CCTV servers are well protected.
