On the way into the plane, it's similar. As soon as the airline employees come to the gate, people stand up and wait in a row. The row is getting longer and longer, and people wait and wait. What

So... on the subject of air-travel, standing up before the seatbelt sign has turned off... People in a rush to 'deplane'....  etc.   What about those who stand so closely to the baggage

Oh, so sorry MAGA, I thought you meant that your Doctor prescribed the single malt, not the Xanax. 555

Hence the photo on my reply. Not really a pun, simply a play on the words you posted. Cheers with the Scotch.

And they get delayed by passengers who think that its a race to get off the plane first and queue up when the doors aren't open yet

It is a race if you have very limited time for get your connection

True... Work placed me on flights with a 40 minute connection (at Doha).... I argued it was too tight and there was a flight arriving in Doha an hour earlier, that made the connection 1 hr 40mins....   But the flight was more expensive.

.... companies are run by lawyers and accountants these days....

I just pointed out.. "not my problem if I miss the connection, you've been warned"...

I made the connection, but was not going to be the 'guy' standing up and rushing off the plane as quickly as possible barging people out of the way.

Neither was I going to be the guy running in the terminal to catch his connection....

Doha - a very efficient airport, all checked in bags made it too !!!

But... I can see how some may panic and try to rush off the plane, pushing past people etc...

Ultimately, IF an airline allows an connection (same ticket) then they are responsible for you making your connection or making alternative arrangements (which of course no one wants because its a faff especially while tired...).

If everyone remained seated , then the people who have a connection to catch can be first off the plane

A lot of your comments imply a civilised 'communal intelligence'...   the reality is quite different....

As someone else already pointed out, Humans are herd animals, we fall foul of the lowest common denominator.

This can be observed when comparing like for like on different airline routes.

Fly - Bangkok to Islamabad and see the utter chaos.... the chaos and disruption and constant up and down, over head bins opening and closing throughout the flight, then chaos as soon as the wheels touch down the flight is taxiing...  everyone is up, climbing over each other, squeezing past each other....  mayhem...

Conversely, fly - Bangkok to Narita (or Handed) and see the calm - almost serene by comparison.

The difference is clear... its about civilisation, education, culture....

On the Japan flights there is a greater 'communal consciousness' for the greater good of everyone else....   on the Pakistan flight this does not exist, its a complete chaotic free-for-all.

Why ?....  culture and the way society is educated.

A racist observation ?... perhaps it is...  nevertheless, its a factual observation (and I deliberately avoided using flying into Europe as an example to avoid involvement of bias through 'race').

How do you enforce this?

What would you do if there was also someone else sitting there waiting to be the last person off ?

Would it become a competition to see who could wait the longest ?

Its only happened once ,both of us  sat there for 43 minutes  , in the end we tossed a coin and i lost and I had to leave before the pilot

I don't understand the comments about 'getting stressed' from several posters.  Why would standing up and waiting for the doors to open stress you?

After sitting for 17 hours.  I may want to stand for a while.

Some people have nothing interesting to say. What happens to single guys in Asia.

I don't think its the 'actual standing up' thats a stressor...

Its the fact that once so many people have stood up and blocked the aisle, when its 'your turn to alight' it becomes more difficult to get out of your seat and get your overhead baggage while others are trying to push past, or worse, inadvertently preventing you from getting out of your seat in the first place.

when alighting, how many times does someone stop and actually 'let you out of your seat'...

Or... do you have to somewhat assertively, put your arm out and actively block the person from behind from pushing through just so you can get into the aisle in what would be considered 'the correct order for alighting'...

Thus: I can understand that this behavior may contribute to elements of stress for some, for others (such as myself), ones the passengers in front start moving, I've no issues, standing up and 'forcing' my way into the aisle to block those behind me so my Wife and Son can get off the plane in front of me....

... sometimes we are just forced to be assertive by the 'pushy' or inconsiderate behavior of others, the same goes for driving in Bangkok... we can't wait for someone to give way, we have to be assertive and 'push out'.....

You snooze you lose. I'm up as soon as belt sign is off, get my bag down, put away the loose items I had for the flight. Ready to go.

I couldn't care less if that bothers the individual who just sits there checking messages.
