Jonathan Pie's review of the week that was.  He might have invented some new swear words, and conjures up some shocking visuals.

Now we've got this frothing out the way, so nobody will be surprised when Trump cancels elections and rules himself King for real? Or the outrage now is moronic and of course he will hold elections like last time?

Personally I hope he cancels it, to make it the 1st time the left have been correct on anything Trump

Who is the "we" you are referring to?

Are you a forum spokesperson?

Hallelujah!

Somebody found light switch in Donny's head and put in ON:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -President Donald Trump reversed course on Friday and said Russia did in fact invade Ukraine, and that Kyiv would soon sign a minerals agreement with the United States as part of efforts to end the Ukraine war.

Trump had said on Tuesday that Ukraine "should have never started" the war three years ago, prompting a wave of criticism both domestically and internationally. Pressed on the subject in an interview with Fox News Radio on Friday, he acknowledged Russia had invaded Ukraine on the order of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Some Ukraine haters like to refer to Zelensky's previous job as a comedian.

They should remember Donald's attempt at light humour.

Finger lickin good!

Constantly reminded that it's Putin who has caused all the damage and destruction that Trump laments has happened to Ukraine, Trump refuses to state the obvious.

What has Putin got on him?

You don't get it. We don't care how the left feels. We don't care what leftist judges say. Judges that happily sat on their thumbs as the judicial system was weaponized against political oppenents and trashed. It's over. We are tearing it all down and starting over, with no more favor to the left, illegals  and weirdos. It's a new era of blind justice. An era with no more trillion $ boondoggles and transsexual dwarf operas in Peru. It's done. The judge can do one. Biden ignored judges over his student debt relief so don't start crying now.

So no governance for "the people". Just dereliction of any social norms in favor of the ignorant sycophants.

Perform according to the dictate of Project 2025  oblivious of the long term impact but happy with the gratuitous shock and awe.

Recipe for a Diktator.

Weaponizing the justice system was very much NOT "governance for the people" it was 3rd world stupidity. Throwing around billions to left wing media and to far left causes around the world was not for the people.

Will you be refusing your $5,000 DOGE dividend because you are triggered by Trump? Or are they just hollow words as you guys whole world is turned upside down with the spotlight on?

The claim the Justice system was "weaponized" is very much a MAGA claim in support of Trump.

The reality is/was that the normal processes of the judicial system were applied.

In many cases it appropriately found against Trump.

In some it found for.

That Trump feels he is somehow above the Law is unfortunate especially now he claims as POTUS he is entitled to not only ignore US Law but that  he and only he  can make Law.

Goodbye the USA.

Phew! Thanks for debunking that for me. Silly old me, been thinking that Leticia James literally ran on a "Get Trump" platform, and after 8 years of the entire DOJ persecuting him to the extent of rifling Melanias panty drawers the best they came up with was to resurrect a long expired misdemeanor concerning a loan that was paid back in full over a decade ago and getting a porn start to sign an NDA and writing it down as a legal expense. Of course there were millions of other expired misdemeanors that got resurrected, not just Trump, right? So we know it was all legit?🤣

Jog on.

Well, for many outsiders, there are aspects of the American justice system that are curious; this issue about prosecutors and sheriffs running for election, and you are probably right; it affects professional judgement. So I suspect you are equally scornful about how the DA, who was running for office, was particularly keen to "get " Alec Baldwin, merely because he was a celebrity, and it would look good in her campaign.

https://www.businessinsider.com/ex-special-prosecutor-alec-baldwin-rust-case-campaign-report-2023-3

(not the original piece, which appeared in the New York Times, which is paywalled)

Justice, as you intimate, should be blind. It is not blind where you institutionalise a process that politicises the entire judicial process, and force judges, DAs, sheriffs to declare themselves for one of the two main parties (and hardly or never it seems for any other party or as an independant). Hence ou now have this mess of the Supreme Court being completely political, when it should be apaolitical, as the ultimate arbiter. Judges should not be in the pocket of any President.

The United States is the only country in the world where voters elect prosecutors. But it wasn't always that way. The American prosecutor did not start as an elected official. After the Revolutionary War, most states gave their governors, judges, or legislators the power to appoint prosecutors. Starting with Mississippi in 1832, however, states adopted new constitutions, statutes, or amendments that made prosecutors elected officials. By 1861, nearly three-quarters of the states in the Union elected their prosecutors.

"Packing the Court" is not new; Roosevelt tried it in 1937. If this particular President wants to be remembered in history, depoliticisation of the entire judicial process would be a brave step. Reform starts at the top, so he needs to impose term limits on those judges, and possibly follow a model instituted by Idaho in 1967 which successfully removed judges from politics. I could forsee genuine bipartisan support from that (and opposition from both parties). It needs a change in the Constitution, so it woul be a considerable challenge, but lasting.
