Law enforcement has finally apprehended 34-year-old Apichon after a decade-long manhunt for his alleged involvement in the brutal stabbing of a dental officer at a popular nightclub in Chai Nat.

The arrest was executed by Police Lieutenant Colonel Phikhane Teereekord, head of the Highway Police Division 3, following multiple outstanding warrants against the suspect.

Apichon was taken into custody on the roadside in Khu Khot sub-district, Lam Luk Ka district, Pathum Thani province, on a warrant issued by the Chai Nat Provincial Court. He faces charges of “collaborating in the murder of another, attempting to murder another, and carrying a knife in a public place without justifiable cause.” Additionally, he has an outstanding warrant from the Nonthaburi Provincial Court for “attempted murder, possession of a firearm and ammunition without permission, and carrying a firearm without a license.”

The incident dates back to 2014 when Apichon allegedly used a knife to fatally stab 34-year-old Panithi, a dental officer at a local health promotion hospital, during a concert at a well-known nightclub in Chai Nat’s Muang district. Following the attack, Apichon fled the scene and managed to evade capture for years.

After the incident, the Chai Nat Police gathered evidence and secured warrants for Apichon’s arrest. At the time of the stabbing, he was also wanted in connection with an attempted murder case in Nonthaburi, further complicating his legal troubles.

Despite the passage of ten years, law enforcement remained vigilant. Officers from the Highway Police Division 1 received information about Apichon’s whereabouts in the Lam Luk Ka area and commenced a pursuit that ultimately led to his arrest.

During interrogation, Apichon confessed to his involvement in the stabbing, claiming it occurred after a heated argument with the victim over a minor incident in the nightclub. He acknowledged that he had acted alongside an accomplice during the attack.

Apichon has been transferred to the Chai Nat Police Station, where he will face legal proceedings. The authorities have expressed relief at finally bringing a long-standing case to a close and are determined to ensure that justice is served for the victim and his family.

As the investigation continues, police are also looking into the role of Apichon’s accomplice, who remains at large.
