Buying yoghurt. A placard on the shelf implores me to buy a 4-pack, to save money. 60 baht.

 

Right next to the 4-pack, there are single tubs of yoghurt, regular price 15 baht.

 

But wait, there's more. The single tubs of yoghurt are on special, 27 baht for two.

 

SMH.

Tops supermarket, Central Festival Pattaya yesterday. Square tiramisu cake over 600 baht. A single portion, quite clearly a quarter of the large one, 135 baht. 135 x4 = 540. Head scratcher. 

So sad ,  nothing better to do

Not really. People who can't count sell to people who can't count.

Just tell them it's better and a special deal and all that and enough people will buy it.

 

I remember going to Emporium looking for shoes. Some "sales guy" tells me about that special 50% promotion, now the shoes cost only 7000B - after discount. I didn't even try to tell him that I don't care how much discount they pretend to give me. Too expensive is too expensive.

Head scratcher? Not at all. Customers are more likely to buy a portion of the cake if they think they are getting a bargain. So the shop simply inflates the price of the whole cake by 60 baht.

 

The customer is happy because they've got themselves a bargain (they think) and the shop probably sells more cakes by using this simple marketing ploy. Customers can be very gullible.

No, it does not.  Some promotions are from the manufacturer in which 7-Elevens have no involvement, or choice, and some offers are from the individual 7-Eleven shop.

The fashionistas discard their apparel after one or two outings.

 

I found a pair of Nike trainers that fitted me, in one of the secondhand shops, a few years ago. I still wear them, very comfortable. Almost brand new, apart from a scuff mark.

 

I paid 1800 baht for them. When I looked them up, the new RRP was 8000 baht.

Went to buy some cinnamon fireball at a posh wine/spirit place in emsphere, bkk.

 

Cheaper to buy 5x 200ml bottles versus 1L. Not on sale either. Bit strange!

Not quite the same logic, but I never get to understand the logic behind "LESS cost MORE".
And this is not only in Thailand, but in most countries as well.

1 liter of Soya Milk = 40 baht
1 liter of Soya Milk WITOUT ADDED SUGAR = 45 Baht.

So, you need to pay the worker who is ADDING SUGAR 5 baht a bottle to not add the SUGAR.

You're a little confuscious about this one. 

 

Adding sugar dilutes the product allowing for more overall sales. Selling a more pure product at a higher cost makes sense.

The "more" pure product is cheaper than the one "diluted" with sugar is how I read the post.

You see that everywhere I always check the singles price versus the "offers" and sometimes the "refill packs" are more expensive than the bottle you would refill.
