Report Chinese Fraud Suspect Escapes From Pattaya Police Station
Picture courtesy of Bangkok Post In a dramatic turn of events, a 38-year-old Chinese national suspected of fraud remains on the run after a daring escape from Pattaya police station. Li Jian evaded custody by leaping from a second-floor window while officers were momentarily distracted during his questioning. Li was initially detained by immigration police at Don Mueang airport in Bangkok. He was attempting to board a flight to Da Nang, Vietnam, when Pol Maj Gen Choengron Rimpadee of Immigration Division 2 apprehended him. His arrest followed a complaint lodged by a fellow Chinese citizen, leading to an arrest warrant issued by the Pattaya provincial court. Investigations revealed that Li and the complainant were acquaintances. Li had allegedly proposed a currency exchange deal, offering Chinese yuan in return for 38,712.77 USDT (a Tether cryptocurrency), valued at about 1.26 million baht. However, Li never delivered the yuan, prompting his friend to seek police intervention. After his arrest at the airport, Li was handed over to Pattaya City police station. It was during interrogation on the building's second floor that Li exploited the officers' brief distraction to make his escape through a window, despite reportedly injuring himself in the fall. He has since evaded capture, and authorities have launched a manhunt to apprehend him. Adapted by ASEAN Now from Bangkok Post 2025-06-05 -

Things you like about Thailand
That was me in USA, even though having most things you need. Just couldn't be bothered, as too much food available. Just the thought of doing dishes was enough to go out & munch. Here, I'm not the biggest fan of Thai food, and the expats that think they know how to cook food, fail miserably. Yet to have an expat, serve up western food, better than a local can. That's damn embarrassing. I'm simply not going to spend, what some places charge for a tasty plate of food, that I can do as good, or better at home, for much less. Might be different if restaurants here had some ambiance. Really have to go high end for any 'fine dining' experience, which is fine. Just hate the idea of spending that much money, then leaving hungry
