snoop1130 Posted February 26 Posted February 26 Picture courtesy of Bangkok Post The Department of Disease Control (DDC) has sounded the alarm over a massive wave of influenza, with more than 130,000 cases reported in just the past two months. DDC Director-General Panumas Yanwetsakul disclosed that between January 1 and February 24, the nation recorded 131,826 influenza cases, including 12 tragic deaths. The outbreak primarily affects children aged five to nine, followed by infants, toddlers, and those aged 10 to 14. The virus has hit the northern region hardest, with 258.44 cases per 100,000 people. The northeast recorded 175.88 cases per 100,000, and the south reported 138.85 cases. In particular, Phayao has been severely impacted, showing the highest infection rate nationwide at 635.55 cases per 100,000, trailed by Lamphun and Chiang Rai. Meanwhile, Bangkok witnessed 331.85 cases per 100,000 residents. Alarmingly, the current infection rate is anticipated to be at least 1.6 times higher than the same timeframe last year, surpassing the five-year average morbidity rate. In 2024, there were 668,027 cases and 51 deaths, with the AH1N1 subvariant being dominant. Panumas urges flu vaccinations, especially for high-risk groups such as seniors over 65, young children, individuals with obesity or chronic illnesses, and pregnant women. He suggested that those showing flu symptoms stay home for three to seven days, or until fully recovered, to curb the virus. The DDC also strongly advises the public to wash hands frequently and wear masks in crowded spaces. Immediate medical help is recommended if symptoms persist, reported The Thaiger. -- 2025-02-26 1

Popular Post J Branche Posted February 27 Popular Post Posted February 27 Out by Khao Yai plenty of people coughing and sick. Here all the well people wear mask and sick people don't. I think we need to send them to Japan to understand the correct way to reduce the spread of flu. 1 2

WDSmart Posted February 27 Posted February 27 I think I contracted this flu a few weeks ago while visiting a hospital for a routine checkup. That night, I started developing symptoms: a runny nose, lungs full of phlegm, cough, and severe tiredness. The symptoms lasted strongly for over a week, and now, two weeks later, I'm just now getting over them. I tested myself at home for COVID and flu, but those tests came out negative, so I don't know what I had, but it was not pleasant!
Popular Post black tabby12345 Posted February 27 Popular Post Posted February 27 Lists of the simple 0Baht countermeasure against cold/flu: Wash your hands with soap as soon as you come home from outside/after touching any animals. Then, gargle with salt water(easy ,effective disinfection of the viral passage). And don't touch your eyes needlessly; virus/germs can enter your body through your eyes, like through your nose and mouth. 1 1 2

Jaggg88 Posted February 27 Posted February 27 I'm just getting over type A Flu. At first, I thought I had a chest infection because the Covid and Flu tests were negative but antibiotics did not make me better. A second Covid and flu test was also negative but while I was having a nebulizer treatment the doctor told me I had flu and pointed to a very faint line next to type A. Antibiotics were binned in favour of Tamiflu and cough suppressants and I was feeling better within 24 hours.
Rumpelstilskin Posted March 2 Posted March 2 Went to Sametivej in Bowin and for 640 baht got vaxxed. Didnt swim for 2 days, slept a lot -- but no problems. Plus the people there were super nice, albeit English free.
NoMoonLogistics Posted March 2 Posted March 2 Bleach, Ivermectin, say "fake news" every 4 hours and then go to work as usual. 1

I was down with the Flu for 11 days, coughing tons of phlegm, 39 degree fever, pain in my muscles, problem to catch my breath, sore throat, tight sinuses... My wife have the vaccine shot, she just got a little sore throat. I'll probably get the flu vaccine next year.
