What am I ignorant about ?

I haven't stated anything , just asked a question , so that cannot be classified "living in your own world "

Although there have actually been incidents where  customs have confiscating drugs and keeping some for themselves , although I am not claiming that that definitely happened here

You make remarks and pretend later when confronted that they were questions or idle speculation, hiding behind semantics.

your endless denials and backpedaling are tiresome and disingenuous.

Which of those animals are specifically listed as protected species under Thai law?

Your attention is directed to  the WILD ANIMAL CONSERVATION AND PROTECTION ACT, B.E.2562 (2019)

-The licensing requirement is  set out in Section III

-There is a registration  requirement that obliges the  keeper of a wild or  exotic animal to comply with the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora

- The care of the animals is set out under the above referenced Act.

If the  man has  his licenses and can show that he is compliance with the  applicable regulations, then he is in the clear. If he is not, then he has a problem on his hands.

These exotic and protected species were probably looked after and cared for better than any other animals that Thais look after.  Just go to an market and you'll see.

I've seen two of these cats in a small cage with fur rubbed of from rubbing against the mesh all day.

But,  the law is the law so he must face the courts and justice although it's a kangaroo justice system here so I don't like your chances Mario ....

Has everyone lost the plot today ?

It wasn't a claim, it was a question .

A person got caught smuggling drugs previously > Same person owns a huge plot of land .

How would that person be able to afford such a big plot of land ?

That quite clearly is a question , I am not pretending anything .

See that question mark at the end (?) that denotes that I was asking a question .

It was a question, no two ways about it

May as well answer my own question , as its way beyond some peoples ability to read and understand the question , let alone answer it  :

No Nick, that wasn't how they could afford to buy such a big plot of land

Not true,  Ex-wife was detained in 2012 with traces of 0.5 milligrams of cocaine in her bag, after a trip in Vietnam..With that amount, surely, they could have bought the big plot of land.

Frank bought  the land, after 17 years of successful television shows, he invested 870.000.-Euros in a 37 hectares for create the sanctuary. After divorce In 2024 it was bought back from his addict  ex-wife again for a price of 325,000 Euros. The husband has never been involved in drug or consumption issues. This being the cause of the divorce.

What part of my post wasn't true ?

The woman DID previously own the land , so that bit is true

She did get caught smuggling drugs , that is also true .

So, What part of my post wasn't true ?

And its been known that the authorities confiscate drugs and keep some for themselves and just use a minimal amount for the prosecution

Is it?  Doubtless you have something to justify that "knowledge"?

Yep. 251mg of coke. Absolutely crazy sentence. 15 years and a 1.5 million baht fine.

Convicted for smuggling, not possession and she had a history of drug use.  She was also convicted of protected wildlife smuggling.  She was released after 6 years.

Bloke should be locked up. This is a lot worse than his wife bringing a few snorts of coke in and she got 15 years.

Why, what has he been found guilty of?   She's a convicted drug and protected wildlife smuggler.

If you don't want to get caught don't advetise.

If he can produce the necessary legal ownership documents he, obviously, would have had no reason to fear "being caught".

It's not so stupid. No amount was mentioned in the article and the fact she got a 15 year jail term would have suggested that she had more than a quarter gram on her.

She was done for smuggling, not possession.

For a start, he shouldn't be in possession of an Australian kangaroo or emu. No one should be allowed to keep a collection of wild animals, particularly as large a one as this.

...unless he has a permit.

He has never been caught smuggling drugs.  Many people are affluent, it isn't a crime or anything that suggests that he shouldn't be able to afford the purchase.   How is it any of your business how he could afford it?

Why ?  I know lots of people in the states that have them. Several of them have thousands of acres and breed them. They're not protected at all, at least not there.

No , She was caught smuggling drugs . OK, so far ?

She then owned a large plot of land , still with me ?

I was wondering whether there was a connection between the two .

You know, smuggling drugs and owning land .

It may have escaped your attention, but this is actually a discussion board where people discuss things

Help me out here; which 7/11 sells kangaroos, ostriches, capybaras, emus, peacocks, pygmy goats, wild boars, civets, Sulcata tortoises and reticulated pythons? Or is it Lotus's, Makro or Big C Extra instead?

Most of these animals cannot read and hence would not have found the Spaniard's farm on their own - or am I getting something wrong here?

Go after the wild life trade and you'll earn a medal in Geneva, bestowed by the WWF.

Have you tried the hotdogs in 711 filled with exotic meat!

Interesting read. Here is what I learned from this thread:

You can't snort an emu or an ostrich.

You can after its trapped in a bush fire
