Were they being sent to Guantanamo where domestic laws don't apply?  Were they shackled, blindfolded, put in diapers for the entire flight?  Did they stop off at a black site along the way for a little "enhanced interrogation" with electrical cables and broom handles?

Worse... They were sent to China and God only knows the torture and suffering they will get once there and out of public view. They may never be seen again.

Let me explain, this "group", the so called Uyghur, happens to be a Muslim minority in China. That's why they clash with the mainstream Chinese culture. Thailand itself has it's own issues with Muslim separatists in the South, they often resort to explosions, violence. So, at least some of the Thai Muslims identify with the Uyghur groups, so they carried out the attack to the Erawan shrine.

so Thailand deports them for the typical reasons people get deported here (I never heard of them accepting refugees long term and how would they legally work anyways so probably working illegally)  then Muslims in Thailand do terrorism on the Thai public as retaliation. Sounds like a no-win scenario for Thailand to be messing around with any of these people. That includes the Thai public, expats and tourists.

Thailand:  Tourist numbers are falling from China. What can we do? Why are the numbers falling?

China: Send the Uyghur's back and we will permit more flights , promote Thailand as the tourist destination.

Done!  Anything else?

While that might be true, certainly in it's past, it would take millennia to catch up with the CCP or Russia.

Or the US for that fact.

Thailand only care about the imagine trillion of baht.I remember my exwife who wanted me to pay her 1000 euro after she get a fully paid work in Norway. Her salary is 5000 euro a month.I shove her the middle finger.Thais is extremely focused in money. They don't care about human rights.

Thailand can do what it wants and deports people all the time. I don’t know what the US is harping on about though with its current MO regards deportations. Ok, not this or that group, but still. Japan is one to talk regards singling groups out. Very stringent. Fair enough and up to them, just sayin. For sure, Thailand struggles with its moral compass, but every country has an agenda.

The US Embassy in Bangkok, responding swiftly, highlighted the risks by recalling the 2015 incident where a bombing at the Erawan Shrine in Bangkok led to the tragic loss of 20 lives, with 125 others injured. This attack followed a similar deportation of Uyghurs, underscoring the potentially grave implications of such decisions. The Erawan Shrine, a bustling location favoured by tourists including those from China, became a stark symbol of the risks involved.

So it's easy to understand why Thailand doesn't want to keep Uyghur "asylum seekers." Violence follows.  And why would anyone would want to seek asylum in a country that makes it know internationally that it doesn't want "asylum seekers."

Normally I receive an email from the US Embassy when an alert of this nature is issued.

I haven't received one for this.

You haven't received notification about this due to Musk firing all the staff that would normally undertake this work.   Welcome to Trump 2.0

You definitely have a "reading and understanding" problem as I didn't say that the Uyghurs were directly involved in the attacks. I said that Muslim Thais who identify with the Uyghurs did. But wait, I asked CHATGPT who was responsible and the reply was amazing, look:

The 2015 bombing of the Erawan Shrine in Bangkok, Thailand, was carried out by two men: Bilal Mohammed (aka Adem Karadag) and Yusufu Mieraili, both of whom were ethnic Uyghurs from China.

The attack, which occurred on August 17, 2015, killed 20 people and injured over 120 others. The exact motive remains unclear, but Thai authorities believe it was retaliation for Thailand's deportation of Uyghur refugees to China. Some analysts also suggest it could have been linked to human smuggling networks.

Both suspects were arrested and put on trial in Thailand, but as of my last update, their case had not yet reached a final verdict. Would you like the latest updates on this?

Again What a load of BS !  your quote (So, at least some of the Thai Muslims identify with the Uyghur groups, so they carried out the attack to the Erawan shrine.  )    CHATGPT can be Wrong in this case it is

The accusation on Uyghurs have been doubted by many experts, including Former National Intelligence Agency director-general Bhumarat Taksadipong.Thai expert on critical terrorism studies Kridikorn Wongsawangpanit criticised the government for confidently blaming the Uyghurs too early. "It was so early that [I am] certain that there no way they [the government] could have collected enough evidences and analyzed in this short period of time,"

Wongsawangpanit listed the junta, who came into power from the 2014 Thai coup, among the likeliest suspects.

Bilal Mohammed (aka Adem Karadag) and Yusufu Mieraili, where released due to insufficient evidence.

TODATE NO SUSPECTS HAVE BEEN ARRESTED

Think you should have asked for the latest update

Japan is considered the best friend that Thailand has ever had.

As for those who come out to condemn Thailand, they have a different perspective. Thailand is just a small person, but they are not like that.

(1/3) Fair Party MP Kannavee Suebsaeng posted on FB a memo from House Committee on Laws, Justice & Human Rights meeting on Jul 10, 2024, stating a rep from Thai Foreign Min told committee, the US, Australia & Sweden have expressed interest in resettling

(2/3) The Foreign Ministry rep added that Thailand has the consider the sensitivities of the matter as Chinese envoys have been persistent whenever they meet the Thai counterpart in demanding that these people be sent back to China.

(3/3) The memo added the Foreign Ministry doesn't know how #China would retaliate if #Thailand allows the #Uyghur detainees to be resettled in a 3rd country & special consideration should be taken as Thailand & China are celebrating 50 yrs of relations in 2025.
