Why would he? 

They aren't stupid. They recruit people with whom they can do business. 

If you aren't willing to do business with a 'cabal/country' that consider themselves a great power, things happen. Information is created against you and they try to get rid of you, in order to install someone with whom they can do business.

People swallow it because they don't have the time to analyse what is going on and are too busy with their lives to do anything about it anyway.

The people who do protest are labelled troublemakers and portrayed in a bad light. The masses are lied to time and time again, whilst those in power do deals on their behalf under the umbrella of lies.
