A 62-year-old man is fighting for his life after being struck by a car while riding his motorcycle to pick up his grandchild from school near Pattaya. The collision occurred at approximately 15:50 on 28 February, near the entrance to Khao Mai Keaw Temple on the Pong-Khao Mai Keaw Road, in the Bang Lamung District of Chonburi province.

According to emergency services, the crash involved a car driven by a woman from China, who collided with the elderly motorcyclist. The force of the impact sent the man flying off his motorcycle, leaving him critically injured. His injuries were described as severe, and he was rushed to a nearby hospital by the Sawan Boriboon Rescue Unit.

The woman driving the car, who has been named as Ms. Li, appeared visibly shaken but uninjured following the collision. She has told police that she was unable to avoid the motorcyclist, though the exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.

At present, the man remains in critical condition in hospital. Meanwhile, the authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the crash, with the woman reportedly cooperating fully with police.

It used to be safer out there when the Chinese tourists were less independent, and were only seen out in large groups, being taken between the tourist sites.

Point taken.

So many stereotypes. Chinese driver. Woman driver. Where do I begin?
