And who does the Trump Admin have heading up Social Security for the time being? A formerly mid-level bureaucrat who had been placed on leave from his prior SSA job while under investigation for allegedly sharing unauthorized access to private Social Security Admin information with reps of Elon Musk's DOGE:

How a Social Security Employee Under Investigation Rose to Lead the Agency

March 2, 2025

"Leland Dudek, a mid-level career employee at the Social Security Administration, found himself at the center of a major shake-up when he was appointed as the agency’s acting commissioner. Just days before his promotion, Dudek had publicly stated that he was placed on administrative leave for cooperating with Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency and was actively searching for a new job.

His sudden elevation came after Michelle King, a longtime SSA official, resigned following disputes with DOGE representatives over access to sensitive Social Security records. King's departure is part of a broader trend of career government officials stepping down due to concerns about DOGE's influence within federal agencies.

Prior to his promotion, Dudek had been under investigation for allegedly sharing unauthorized access to SSA information with DOGE representatives, according to The Washington Post. The agency's leadership team had reportedly placed him on paid leave over concerns that his actions may have violated privacy and tax laws. He was also accused of pressuring SSA personnel to expedite the clearance of DOGE engineers into the agency's systems.

No salary

You think that Elon Musk, the man who has received more money from the US federal government than any other human, is doing this completely for free, out of the goodness of his heart?

Here's where the Republicans really are on Social Security, per CNBC:

Trump plan would make Social Security insolvent in just 6 years, budget group says

"Key Points
  • Donald Trump’s tax-cut plans and other agenda items would hasten Social Security’s insolvency, a nonpartisan budget group said.
  • The Republican nominee’s proposals would also expand Social Security’s cash shortfall by trillions of dollars and lead to even steeper benefit cuts in the coming years, the group estimated."

NEWS: As Republicans Attempt to Undermine Social Security, Sanders, Warren, Schakowsky, Hoyle Introduce Legislation to Expand Social Security

"WASHINGTON, Feb. 27 – As Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress attempt to advance legislation to give massive tax breaks to billionaires and undermine Social Security, Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Ranking Member on the Senate Finance Committee's Subcommittee on Social Security, Pensions and Family Policy, and Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), along with Reps. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.) and Val Hoyle (D-Ore.), introduced the Social Security Expansion Act. The legislation would expand Social Security benefits by $2,400 a year and ensure Social Security is fully funded for the next 75 years by applying the Social Security payroll tax on all income above $250,000. Importantly, this legislation would not raise taxes by one penny on the over 91 percent of American households who make $250,000 or less." [emphasis added]

Where does anyone think Trump and Musk are going to come down on this? Protecting billionaires and millionaires, or preserving Social Security and providing a financial safety net for the 91% of American households earning less than $250,000 per year?

The DOGE attack on various federal government departments is just the opening salvo in the Republicans attack on various federal programs that help support and protect the American non-millionaires and non-billionaires. And part of their movement to convince Americans that they can't rely on the federal government and its workforce to protect them against... who else... the millionaire and billionaire liars like Trump and Musk.

Just provide links!!! You do this all the time and it is frustrating. Once you join a thread we all have to page through tons of crap you feel is important.  Sorry to be rude but your behavior is frustrating.  I have no idea why mods allow it.

I assume you are the one that put the confused emoji on my post.  I get tit now. You have no idea what I'm referring to when I ask you to provide links and not the article.

Simply replace the huge post above with your last line ( i.e., https://finance.yahoo.com/news/social-security-employee-under-investigation-000017561.html) You can comment on the link but when I see you joined a thread I move on rather than wear out my mouse wheel scrolling through endless articles.

Could you imagine if all of us posted like you do.  It would make threads impossible to navigate and destroy any interest in perusing topics.

After watching Musk on a recent vain attempt by Joe Rogan to regain a modicum of popularity he has now lost, I got the distinct impression that the US
Social Security system is soon to be under enormous stress. Reports suggest that over 6,000 employees of the Social Security Administration have

already been relieved of their duties, a fact that should give some US citizens pause over what may become of their monthly payments.

I have no dog in the fight as I am not American and don't even qualify for any pension due to being out of my own country for most of my adult life, but I have several American friends who are highly dependant on SS, no pun intended. Any thoughts on this, or do you see it as just another "conspiracy theory" that will never happen?

*Derogatory nickname edited out*

The program is intact for now, and full benefit payments should continue until approximately 2034. After that, and unless there's some fix to the program, benefit payments could be reduced as much as 25%.   Payments go out automatically, so for most, that should mean no interruption.  Benefit payments are indexed to the CPI. Of course, those figures are a big lie and mostly fiction, but it's best the nothing.

Tell me how helpful your comment was to those affected.

What makes you think your military pension won't be affected by Musk's eager beavers as well?

"Those affected": you mean the hordes of BS useless jobs?

I don't recall you being this bent on social justice when tens of thousands of people lost everything because they refused an experimental injection.

The issue is that there is a point where it's written into law that all benefits will be cut about 25 percent without significant structural reform such as raising the SS tax income caps. etc. Before Trump it was estimated that was about 8 to 10 years away.

Under Trump 2.0 the new estimates are 6 years. Of course this can be avoided by a bipartisan consensus to pass that reform.
