Congo Fever Sparks Heightened Checks at Suvarnabhumi Airport

In response to an unusual fever outbreak in Congo, Suvarnabhumi Airport is ramping up health checks to safeguard Thailand's public health. This decision follows an alarming report from the World Health Organization (WHO), which detailed a mystery illness causing concern in Congo.

The unknown disease has afflicted the villages of Boloko and Bomate in Equateur since February 19, resulting in 955 reported cases and 60 deaths, equating to a fatality rate of 6.3%. Importantly, screenings confirmed that neither the Ebola virus nor the Marburg virus was responsible for this outbreak.

In light of these developments, Thailand’s Department of Disease Control (DDC), under the leadership of Dr Panumas Yanwetsakul, has reinforced measures to prevent any potential entry of the disease into the country. Suvarnabhumi Airport has been identified as a critical checkpoint, enhancing its procedures to intercept any health risks from incoming travellers.

Visitors from Congo are now subject to more rigorous temperature checks upon arrival. They are also required to submit their local contact information and details regarding their departure from Congo, ensuring swift traceability in case of any health incidents.

Individuals who have been in Congo within the past 21 days must fill out a health reporting form and follow instructions on the Health Beware Card handed out by authorities. These protocols are designed to catch any early symptoms of the disease, such as high fever, headache, or muscle pain.

Dr Panumas stressed the importance of vigilance, urging anyone with symptoms exceeding a 38°C fever or other related signs to seek immediate medical help. Early disclosure of travel history to medical professionals is vital for accurate diagnosis and infection control.

Meanwhile, Thailand has recently seen positive outcomes in handling a cholera outbreak with a limited number of cases, mainly affecting patients from Myanmar as well as locals. These cases have been effectively treated, showcasing the capacity of Thai health services to manage infectious diseases adeptly.

Public health authorities remain on high alert, continuously monitoring the situation to ensure a robust defence against potential outbreaks. The international reputation of Thailand's health and travel safety standards relies heavily on such vigilant actions, particularly as the world navigates an era of increased global mobility and interconnected health concerns, reported The Thaiger.

Fortunately, Congolese needs visa to enter this kingdom.

So, the infected won't flock into this country(as the visa waiver entrants).

"Congo Fever"... has a new name for an old disease just been coined?

Spike Lee, with his "Jungle Fever" should be contemplating litigation.

Are you really this ignorant? Hemorrhagic fevers are some of the most deadly infections in the world. Depending on the virus causing it, the mortality rate can reach 40%. What are bioweapon shots? Is this your attempt to dismiss vaccines?

Again, another display of ignorance. With the exception of ebola, there are no vaccines. Nor are the magical potions that you might use such as ivermectin or bleach enemas  going to help. These are deadly, painful and messy illnesses.

Without the intervention of the WHO , how are you going to contain the spread of the illness? Congo has travel links to the world. All it takes are a few  Congo nationals to infect the population of Belgium, and then  the EU is infected and then places like Thailand.

Read my previous post; mentioning it was an error.

AI's Predictive Conversion mistook Congolese, with Cantonese.

Any more questions?

You mean, Ebola?

I first felt that way, and checked it out with google.

What I found is, they are different.

But 2 of them have close resemblance; both of them, Viral Hemorrhagic Fever.

So as their symptoms; causing Multi-Organ Failure.

For sure.

If nothing else, it would be some free publicity for a career in terminal decline.

Simply because yours didn't look fun.

If you believe I don't have a sense of humor, check my past post.

I typed a lot of jokes that made good sense(made quite a few people laugh)...

Partly outsourced, as so many things these days, to China... 😆

Yawn...

Another (potential) psyop in the making.

How is tomato flu and Disease X these days? Traction?

Where's Doc Tedros?

😂

The Congo is not exactly high on the tourist list so it will only, or should only be, a few people checked.

Glad to see that the Thai government is aware and addressing the issue. They can skip consulting RFK.
