A construction contractor was left in shock after his wife accidentally discharged a firearm, fatally shooting herself in the chest inside their home. The incident took place just after the couple had been preparing a meal together.

Police investigator Lt. Wichan Laitaisong of Plai Bang Police Station confirmed that officers were alerted to the shooting at 20:30 on 4 March. Emergency responders, including forensic experts and rescue teams, were dispatched to the scene, a two-storey detached house in Plai Bang, Bang Kruai district, Nonthaburi province.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the lifeless body of Ms. Natchathichapak, 51, lying near the entrance to the kitchen. She had suffered a gunshot wound to the left side of her chest, with the bullet exiting through her left ribcage. Blood was splattered across the floor. A 9mm handgun, along with a single spent shell, was found on a nearby table and was collected as evidence.

Her husband, Mr. Boonsong, 48, a construction contractor, recounted the events leading up to the tragedy. He stated that he and his wife had been preparing food together when he asked their son to drive out, as their daughter was due to help him with accounting tasks.

Later, he noticed his wife retrieving a gun from their car, which he had previously advised her to store there. She walked back inside, finger on the trigger guard, prompting him to warn her about handling it carelessly. She allegedly dismissed his concerns, saying, “You shoot for fun all the time, so why can’t I?”

Moments later, while he was putting on his shoes after using the bathroom, he heard a single gunshot. Rushing inside, he found her collapsed on the floor. In distress, he cradled her and repeatedly asked “Why did you do this?” before calling their daughter to summon emergency services.

He and their son attempted to carry her to the car, but the floor was too slippery with blood. As they waited for rescue workers, he held her in his arms, pleading with her to stay awake. Medics arrived and performed CPR, but she succumbed to her injuries.

Forensic teams have since collected gunpowder residue samples from all household members for DNA testing. Mr. Boonsong was taken in for further questioning at the police station, while his wife’s body was sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for a thorough autopsy.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to confirm the exact circumstances of the fatal shooting.

Huh? I can't envision this. Then she put the gun on the table?

Wonder how much the builder paid to get them to accept this story?

Not sure why you got a cry, baby emoji. This all makes zero sense.

So after she shot herself in the chest she then had enough in her to find the casing. Then put it and the gun on the table before dying.

Riiiiiiiight.

Maybe the husband put the gun on the table.

A good forensics team can discern who shot the gun, whether it was an accident or someone else used the gun and made it look like she did.
